Madhavi Latha to contest against Owaisi, know about the triple talaq activist

Madhavi Latha, a first-time candidate from BJP is in the headlines as she is up against AIMIM chief and four-time MP Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad. Recently, she received praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after her appearance on the television show 'Aap Ki Adalat'.

PM Modi said, "Madhavi Latha Ji, your ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ episode is exceptional. You’ve made very solid points and also done so with logic and passion. My best wishes to you."

Who is Madhavi Latha?

Kompella Madhavi Latha is an activist. She was at the forefront of the campaign against instant triple talaq that was criminalised by Parliament in 2019.

She is also an entrepreneur, an NCC cadet, and a professional Bharatnatyam dancer.

What did Madhavi Latha say in the television show?

The BJP candidate from Hyderabad said that she has been working for poor Muslim families of Old Hyderabad. She also narrated the story of a 16-year-old Muslim girl who was married to a 70-year-old Arab man and 18 times thereafter.

Latha said, "I have been working hard among poor Muslim families of Old Hyderabad to provide them with education and assistance. Fifteen days ago, a 16-year-old Muslim girl spoke from a Middle Eastern country to her family in Hyderabad saying, "Arrange a big feast because I have been married off 18 times. She was married to a 70-year-old Arab man. This is the bitter truth. Can anybody do this for his own daughter? Where does religion come into this?"

A few days ago, Madhavi Latha also mocked Owaisi as he claimed to have received death threats. Latha said that the Hyderabad MP was ‘friends with ISIS.’
