Union Budget 2024-25 likely to be presented in third week of July

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the Union Budget 2024-25 during the third week of July, coinciding with the start of the budget session, according to NDTV sources.

The report further adds that the National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will hold a separate session for the Union Budget in parliament after the initial session, scheduled from June 24 to July 3.

The report comes after as Sitharaman began her tenure as Finance Minister on Wednesday for her second consecutive term, marking her as the first woman to serve as a minister for three consecutive terms under the Modi government.

Nirmala Sitharaman takes charge

Nirmala Sitharaman assumed office as the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister for a second consecutive term on Wednesday. She is set to present the final Budget for FY '25, which will outline the Modi 3.0 government's priorities for a "Viksit Bharat."

Upon arrival at the North Block office, Sitharaman was welcomed by Finance Secretary T V Somanathan and other top officials. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, who took charge the previous evening, was also present.
