The Ambani Wedding Extravaganza: The staggering cost revealed

The estimated cost of this wedding is a jaw-dropping Rs 4,000-5,000 crore, only about 0.5% of the Ambani family's net worth!

The Ambani Wedding Extravaganza: The staggering cost revealed

From pre-wedding celebrations that began in March in Gujarat’s Jamnagar followed by a luxurious cruise across Italy and France, culminating in the wedding held on July 12th in the city of Mumbai – the Anant Ambani- Radhika Merchant wedding celebrations have been a global affair filled with star-studded performances and lavish events.

Social media has been full of visuals from the grand celebrations with global icons like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Diljit Dosanjh, alongside top Bollywood stars and other celebrities part of the event.

But, the big question on people's minds has been how much did this entire extravaganza cost? The estimated cost of this wedding is a jaw-dropping Rs 4,000-5,000 crore! But, get this, that's only about 0.5% of the Ambani family's net worth!

Nitin Chaudhary, founder of NC Financial Advisory Services, puts this in perspective. He explains that an average Indian family might spend 5-15% of their total wealth on a wedding. In comparison, the Ambanis are actually spending a much smaller percentage of their net worth.

Let's break it down. A family with a net worth of Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1 crore might spend Rs 10-15 lakhs on a wedding. A wealthier family worth around Rs 10 crore could spend between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crore. But even with such extravagant costs, these families spend a larger chunk of their wealth compared to the Ambanis.

So, while Rs 4,000-5,000 crore is in fact astronomical, for the Ambanis, it’s just a fraction of their immense fortune.
