ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Companies involved in Chandrayaan's manufacture

Different companies contributed to the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 mission that has the potential to attract more investments into private space firms

 ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Companies involved in Chandrayaan's manufacture

The Vikram lander module has successfully separated from the propulsion module of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft and continues its solo journey to the moon. With an estimated budget of Rs 615 crore, Chandrayaan-3 is said to be one of the most cost-effective space missions as compared to its predecessors. This effort is also expected to open wide range of potential for private space firms in India.

This mission will make India the fourth country to safely land a spacecraft on the moon. Here's the list of some of the companies that contributed to the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3:

Larsen & Tourbo (L&T):

L&T supplied important components for Chandrayaan-3. The company adhered to the stringent quality and timeline requirements for the production of space hardware for the mission. L&T manufactured and supplied ground and flight umbilical plates, critical booster segments. It also did proof pressure testing of the critical booster segments. The company played a vital role in the system integration of the Launch Vehicle.

Bharat Heavy Electricals:

Bharat Heavy Electricals had supplied 100 batteries to ISRO for the mission. The New Indian Express quoted an official statement by the company in 2021 that said, "Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has achieved the unique milestone of supplying its 100th battery to ISRO for its very important and critical mission, Chandrayaan-3".

Walchandnagar Industries

Walchandnagar Industries has been instrumental in manufacturing components for all the 48 launches till now that includes the first launch of PSLV-D1 in 1993.

Centum Electronics

Centum Electronics has made roughly 300 to 500 components for Indian space missions.

Along with these companies, ISRO had roped in Godrej, Hyderabad-based MTAR Technologies, and Bengaluru-based Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to fabricate the engine and the stage.
