Amazon Prime Day unleashes shopping frenzy: Toys, Smartphones, and Appliances fly off the shelves

Amazon Business, the B2B platform, sent shockwaves through the e-commerce landscape with a jaw-dropping 56% surge in sales during its recent Prime Day sale. The shopping extravaganza, held on July 15 and 16 exclusively for Amazon India's paid members, shattered records as customers scrambled to grab unbeatable deals.

Prime Day saw large appliances being sold every two seconds, while smartphones and toys practically flew off the virtual shelves at a dizzying pace of five and two per second, respectively.

Amazon Business experienced a phenomenal growth spurt across various categories. Electronics witnessed a two-fold leap, while office furniture and kitchen products and appliances soared by 1.7 and 1.4 times, respectively.

Prime membership surged as well, with 14% more members joining the Amazon India club compared to the previous year. Shoppers from a staggering 98% of India's pin codes participated in the retail rampage, clamoring for front-load washing machines, headphones, apparel, shoes, luxury beauty products, smartphones, and an array of baby products, all from the most reputable brands in the market.

Toys recorded their highest single-day sales ever, with an average of 1.8 toys flying into the eager hands of customers every second. Home appliances and kitchen products like mixer grinders, water purifiers, and water heaters also witnessed a two-fold surge in demand.

In Tier 2 and 3 cities, 70% of the smartphone demand originated. Foldable smartphones, a technology marvel, grew an astonishing 25 times, and the newly-launched smartphones received an overwhelming response from Amazon Prime members.
