Will Twitter always be free? Elon Musk weighs in

Twitter Inc., which has been free for use up until now, may not be forever.

In a tweet, Elon Musk on Tuesday said that the platform will always be free for casual users but may charge a slight fee for commercial and government users.

According to reports, Twitter declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.

Since even before reaching a deal with Twitter, Musk has been suggesting a range of changes to the platform. Musk said that a possible edit button, something many users have asked for, might be on the cards. Musk has made his intentions of defeating spam bots, authenticating all humans and making algorithms open source very clear.

Earlier this week while attending the Met Gala, Musk also said he would make Twitter transparent about how tweets are promoted or demoted and make the software publicly available for critique.
