Ukraine War: NATO head says Russia may use chemical weapons against Ukraine

The head of the NATO military alliance has said that he fears Russia might use chemical weapons as part of its ongoing war in Ukraine.

NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg told reporters at a news conference in Belgium that allies are concerned Moscow could stage a 'false flag operation' potentially using chemical weapons.

His comments come as Russia continues to push out misleading information that the United States is assisting Ukraine in developing biological weapons.

On Tuesday, the secretary of Russia’s Security Council was quoted as saying that US advisers in Ukraine are helping Kyiv to create biological and nuclear weapons.

The United States denied Russian accusations that Washington was operating biowarfare labs in Ukraine, calling them 'laughable' and suggesting Moscow may be laying the groundwork to use a chemical or biological weapon.

Stoltenberg also shot down the idea of setting up a 'no-fly zone' in Ukrainian airspace, despite repeated pleas made by Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
