Spain health workers protest as govt 'promotes' private health care

More than 30000 health workers took to streets in Madrid on Sunday protesting against the Spanish government's cut to public health care system. The protesters accused Madrid's conservative Popular Party-led government of favouring the private healthcare providers while dismantling the public health care system.

The protest by healthcare workers came amid a series of agitations, including strike, against staff shortages in the European country.

Despite Madrid being Spain's highest income per capita region, it spends the least amount per capita on primary health care argue the unions behind the protest.
