King Edward VII's antique robin teapot set to be auctioned

The Robin Teapot, which was meant to be a gift for Britain’s King Edward VII, will be up for auction on September 19. The artefact is expected to be sold for Rs. 12 lakhs.

The Woolley and Wallis auction house in Salisbury clarified that the teapot, which was originally originally commissioned by King Edward VII's wife, was no longer a part of the Royal Collection.

Reports say that the teapot was crafted by William James Goode in 1876.

Describing the teapot, the auction house wrote that it was “modelled as a fluffed-up robin with tail erect and beak agape.”

Other items that previously belonged to the royal family have also been auctioned off, including a slice of cake from Princess Diana and Prince Charles's wedding. A handwritten Christmas card from Queen Elizabeth was also sold.
