Houthis Show Palestine 2 Hypersonic Missile, Saudi In Panic; Iran Said Even We Don’t Have That Tech

Houthis’ ‘hypersonic missile’ attack on Israel sparked panic among Gulf nations.

Saudi alarmed after Houthis vowed more attacks in response to war on Gaza.

Saudi said need to constrain the supply of weapons to the Shia group, reported the Guardian.

Saudi, which supports fallen Yemen govt, opposes Houthis and believes Iran arming the group.

Iran also gave weapons to Houthis to hit Israel or Israel-linked ships in Red Sea, says Saudi.

Iran's Pezeshkian denied Saudi’s claim, says didn’t transfer missile to Houthis.

"It takes a person a week to travel to Yemen (from Iran), how could this missile have gotten there? We don't have such missiles to provide to Yemen,” Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian President.

But in 2023, Iran showcased its first domestically made hypersonic ballistic missile.

Amid call for calm from Arab nations, Houthis said, ‘won’t stop till Israel stops’.

Houthis claimed its missile bypassed Israel’s Arrow, Iron Dome defence systems.

“It crossed a distance of 2,040 km in 11 and a half minutes and caused a state of fear and panic among the Zionists, as more than two million Zionists headed to shelters for the first time in the history of the Israeli enemy."

Nasruddin Amer, Houthi spokesman

Israel has downplayed the claim that the missile named ‘Palestine 2’ was hypersonic.

Houthis are the only group to have hit deep inside Israel twice in 2024.

In July, a drone from Yemen exploded near US embassy in Tel Aviv, one person died.

In response, Israel attacked a port in Yemen that led to death of six people.

Houthis have attacked at least 80 ships in the Red Sea since Oct 7.

US and UK have carried out strikes inside Yemen to foil Red Sea attacks.

The Shia group has also downed at least ten spy drones of the US.

The drones have been shot down using Russian air defence systems.
