Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from members of the Indian diaspora upon his arrival at Blair House, where the crowd enthusiastically chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Modi Modi'. PM Modi took the time to greet and shake hands with many of them, acknowledging the lively assembly gathered to see him at this significant diplomatic venue.

Blair House, where PM Modi will stay, holds historical significance as the official guest residence for dignitaries visiting the White House. In anticipation of his visit, the residence was proudly adorned with the Indian flag, highlighting the importance of this occasion.

Blair House: An Iconic Diplomatic Residence

1. Situated at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue, directly opposite the White House, Blair House offers much more than a typical guest house experience.

2. Known as "the world's most exclusive hotel," Blair House has hosted an array of prominent personalities, including presidents, royalty, and global leaders.

3. The house was built in 1824 and gained political prominence when the Blair family established residence there in 1837.

4. It functions as a sprawling, 70,000-square-foot adjunct to the White House.

5. Comprising four linked townhouses, the 7,000-square-foot Blair House features 119 rooms, including 14 guest bedrooms, 35 bathrooms, three formal dining areas, as well as a fully-equipped beauty salon.

6. Designed to deliver a luxurious, five-star experience, Blair House showcases the richness of American history and craftsmanship through its antique furnishings, exquisite art, and notable historical artifacts.

7. Over the years, the Blair House has welcomed many distinguished guests, including former Indian Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, French President Charles de Gaulle, Israeli Prime Ministers Golda Meir, Shimon Peres, and Yitzhak Rabin, and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
