American shooter to donate his brain to science in novel settlement

A mass shooter, Nikolas Cruz, who killed 17 school students in one of the deadliest mass shootings in US history, has agreed to donate his brain to science in a unique settlement with one of the survivors.

On February 14, 2018, Cruz used an AR-15 assault rifle to kill 17 students and staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The condition of donating the brain was proposed by the attorney of one of the survivors of the shooting, Anthony Borges, 21. He was shot five times during the attack, the New York Post said.

"I figured if scientists studied his brain, they might be able to figure out what created this monster," Borges' lawyer told Fox News Digital.

The settlement also allows Borges to use Cruz’s name in movies, books and other media. 25-year-old Cruz is currently serving a life sentence and is prohibited from profiting from his crime.
