Coldplay&rsquo;s tour in India included five concerts, with performances in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. Their Republic Day concert on January 26 set a record with 1.34 lakh attendees, marking their largest show in India.
After their second-to-last concert, Coldplay took to their X account to thank fans, writing, "Thank you Ahmedabad, thank you India. We'll never forget these two weeks. Your love and kindness will stay with us forever."

The International Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences has named comedian and Bollywood star Vir Das as the host of the 2024 International Emmy Awards. The event will be held on November 25 in New York City.
This will be Das&rsquo;s return to the International Emmys after his notable win last year for his Netflix comedy special &lsquo;Landing&rsquo;. He was also nominated in the Comedy category in 2021 and is known for his unique humour and global appeal.

Das, currently on his international Mind Fool tour, has built a versatile career. He has created, produced, and starred in various series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the Netflix thriller &lsquo;Hasmokh&rsquo;, and the Amazon travel show &lsquo;Jestination Unknown&rsquo;.
He also appeared in Judd Apatow&rsquo;s Netflix film &lsquo;The Bubble&rsquo; and is developing a single-camera comedy with CBS Studios and Andy Samberg. Additionally, he leads India&rsquo;s comedy-rock band Alien Chutney.

Earlier this year, Vir addressed comparisons to Priyanka Chopra, highlighting a 'big difference' in their paths to success in the US. He noted performing on shows like &lsquo;The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon&rsquo;, while Priyanka was featured as a guest on those American programs.
In an interview on &lsquo;The Ranveer Show&rsquo;, he said, &lsquo;(I am) Nowhere even close to the level of Priyanka. Like Priyanka is the global Indian. Elon Musk&rsquo;s micro-blogging site Twitter, known for its verification badge which distinguished businesses, government officials, and celebrities from others, has now removed the coveted symbol from the accounts of many prominent personalities. Several stars are now reacting to losing the blue tick on the platform as per a new mandate launched by the micro-blogging site. Twitter users with verified blue checkmarks are the ones paying a monthly subscription of ₹650-700.
Comedian-actor Vir Das reacted to his blue tick verification disappearing from Twitter and said he is okay with anyone impersonating him on the social media platform. He added that people should take it to be an impersonator's account if they feel offended by his tweets and should believe it to be his account if they like the posts.
Nargis Fakhri also tweeted about it and wrote, &lsquo;I never really come on here. i just noticed I&rsquo;m no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what&rsquo;s the point.&rsquo;
Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar wrote, &lsquo;My account says subscription will end on 17th March 2024, yet it says canceled. I have paid for a year. Why does it stand canceled @TwitterBlue???&rsquo; Many other stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Halle Berry have also lost their verified blue ticks from Twitter.

Actor-comedian Vir Das is baffled over an order of bananas he called for in America. Das had ordered two bananas as a post-workout snack but instead of receiving the fruits au naturel, he got a peeled, sliced, stacked and packaged version.&nbsp;
Sharing a video on social media, Das said he 'justed wanted bananas for lunch,' not its packaged version. In the video, he lists why serving or selling bananas like that is pointless.
Vir Das goes on to elaborate that entire process involves use of extra people who would have had to cut and package the fruit. He also pointed out that the use of plastic adds to the pollution. The comedian also rued the fact that one would need cutlery to eat the sliced bananas.
Vir Das adds he is amazed as to why somebody would feel the need to package something that has already been packaged by God. His parting shot was that only in American do people think they can do better than God.&nbsp;

TMC MP Derek O'Brien has invited stand-up comedian Vir Das to Kolkata, a day after his show in Bengaluru was cancelled at the last minute following protests by Hindu right-wing groups.
"Hello @thevirdas Come to #Kolkata. We would love to have you here this winter. DM me please. Let's get this going," the TMC's leader of the House in Rajya Sabha said in a tweet.
The protesting groups alleged that the show, scheduled to be held on Thursday, would hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
Das later uploaded a video on Twitter to deter any assumptions made on his content. In the video Das can be seen asking his audience if anything he said during the show defamed India or hurt any sentiment. The crowd is seen answering in the negative.
"I made this video after one of my shows, Just in Case. I have no interest in media spectacles or being used for headlines. I'm an artist. I shouldn't be on the news. Many assumptions are made about my content. I trust my art and my audience to speak for me. #TrustTheAudience," Das tweeted.
Das' monologue "I come from two Indias" had stirred a row a year ago when he was criticised for allegedly defaming the country.
Referred to as India's Silicon Valley, Bengaluru is home to people from across the country, especially those in the Information Technology sector.
Over the last few years, several shows by stand-up comedians in the city were cancelled.
Two shows of Munawar Faruqui were cancelled in November 2021 and August this year. In December 2021, multiple shows of Kunal Kamra were cancelled following "threats to close down the venue".

Stand-up comedian Vir Das is in legal trouble. The Cuffe Parade police filed a first information report (FIR) against him, two other persons, and the online streaming platform Netflix on charges of copyright rules violation following a complaint by a producer.&nbsp; &nbsp; In his complaint, Ashvin Gidwani, the renowned theatre producer, alleged that 12 jokes from the show were copied from the script of an earlier show produced by him and performed by Das in 2010.&nbsp; &nbsp; According to the official from Cuffe Parade police station, Gidwani mentioned that when he viewed a promo of a new show of Vir Das on Netflix in January 2020, he realised that some content had allegedly been copied from the previous show with a few changes.&nbsp; &nbsp; A case was filed against Das, two other persons, and Netflix service under relevant provisions of the Copyright Act on November 4, PTI quoted the official as saying.&nbsp; &nbsp; An investigation is underway and no arrest has been made so far.&nbsp; &nbsp; According to PTI, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, a right-wing group approached the Bengaluru police on Monday and sought cancellation of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/vir-das-tests-positive-for-covid-19-goes-into-deep-thought-about-considering-embroidery-1641871383329">Vir Das</a>&rsquo; show, alleging that it will hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and show India in a bad light.&nbsp;

Munawar Faruqui
Munawar Faruqui, a Muslim comedian, who spent a month in jail earlier this year for a joke, has now hinted at quitting comedy after a dozen of his shows were cancelled in Mumbai and Bangalore following protests. In a heartbreaking post, he wrote, "Hate has won, an artist has lots". The Bengaluru police asked organisers to call Munawar's show off citing possible law and order problems.

In November, a monologue by comedian Vir Das in Washington DC triggered a storm of protest, prompting several complaints to the police, and backlash on social media. Vir Das said it was "about the duality of two very separate Indias" that he lived in, but his critics were angry with him for vilifying the country.

In 2019, comedian Tanmay Bhat, one of the co-founders of the now inactive comedy company AIB, landed in trouble when he uploaded a Snapchat video mimicking cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. It led to an FIR against him by the MNS. AIB, which was known for its comedy sketches on  online platforms, in 2015 also landed in legal trouble over a "roast" featuring prominent Bollywood celebrities.

Comedian Kiku Sharda of "Comedy Nights with Kapil" fame had to spend a few days in judicial custody in 2016 for mimicking Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He was booked under section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief).

In 2019, stand-up comic artiste Agrima Joshua received rape threats and was abused online after an old video of her performance in 2019 surfaced in which she made a joke about the statue of Shivaji in the Arabian sea. The comedian had to later apologise for her comments.

Comedian <a href="https://www.editorji.com/watch-trailer-vir-das-brings-new-comedy-show-inside-out-1597244306247" target="_blank">Vir&nbsp;Das</a>&nbsp;has issued a clarification after facing backlash over a monologue he delivered as part of his performance in the US, with many on social media calling him out for "insulting India".
On November 15, Vir Das dropped his latest video 'I Come&nbsp;From&nbsp;Two Indias' on his YouTube channel. In the nearly seven-minute-long video, Vir&nbsp;talked about the duality of the country.

He mentioned&nbsp;topical issues India is grappling with including the battle against Covid-19.&nbsp; Vir also talked&nbsp;about crackdown against comedians, lack of information about the PMCARES fund and also the farmers' protests.&nbsp;
Soon after Vir dropped the video, he faced massive backlash on Twitter for his comments against the country. While some called him anti-national, others called the act 'pathetic' and 'insulting'.&nbsp; &nbsp; Later, a complaint was lodged against the comedian for 'derogatory statements against India' over his&nbsp;monologue.&nbsp;The complaint was lodged with the Mumbai Police by high court lawyer Ashutosh Dubey.&nbsp;
Vir Das&nbsp;soon&nbsp;issued a statement clarifying his position.&nbsp;He wrote, "The video is a satire about the duality of two very separate India&rsquo;s that do different things. Like any nation has light and dark, good and evil within it. None of this is a secret.&nbsp;The video appeals for us to never forget that we are great. To never stop focusing on what makes us great."

Vir Das asked his followers to be "fooled by edited snippets". "People cheer for India with hope, not hate. People clap for India with respect, not malice. You cannot sell tickets, earn applause, or represent a great people with negativity, only with pride. I take pride in my country, and I carry that pride across the world," he said.
"To me, a room full of people anywhere in the world, giving India an ovation is pure love. I ask of you, the same thing I asked of that audience...to focus on the light, remember our greatness, and spread the love," he added.
