The wealthiest person in Titanic, John Jacob Astor's gold watch was auctioned for &euro;1.17 million ($1.46 million) in England. This auction which was conducted by Henry Aldridge &amp; Son marked the highest amount ever paid for an item linked to the tragic sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

The winning bid far exceeded the auctioneer's initial estimate of &pound;100,000 to &pound;150,000. The watch is engraved with initial JJA and belonged to a prominent American businessman Astor. Astor lost his life at the age of 47 in the Titanic tragedy. He however made sure that his wife, Madeleine, boarded a lifeboat.&nbsp;
As per the auction house the watch was recovered from the body a week later and was worn by his son.
The auction was held in Devizes that featured over 280 lots related to ocean liners. It includes two significant items from Titanic's history. Along with the gold watch, a violin case that belonged to the orchestra leader, who famously continued to play as the ship sank was also auctioned.
As per BBC, the case was sold for &pound;290,000, with the final price, including taxes and fees, reaching &pound;366,000.

The filmmaker, who is also a renowned deep-sea explorer, said many warnings were ignored about the safety of the tourist submersible that imploded.
&lsquo;I'm struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship, and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field on a moonless night, and many people died as a result,&rsquo; Cameron told ABC News.
&lsquo;And for a very similar tragedy, where warnings went unheeded, to take place at the same exact site, with all the diving that's going on all around the world, I think it's just astonishing. It's really quite surreal,&rsquo; he said.
In an interview with BBC, Cameron said when he learned that the sub had lost both its navigation and communication at the same time, he said he immediately suspected a disaster.
&lsquo;I felt in my bones what had happened. For the sub's electronics to fail and its communication system to fail, and its tracking transponder to fail simultaneously - sub's gone,&rsquo; he said.
&lsquo;I immediately got on the phone to some of my contacts in the deep submersible community. Within about an hour I had the following facts. They were on descent. They were at 3500 metres, heading for the bottom at 3800 metres,&rsquo; he continued.
Cameron told BBC, &lsquo;Their comms were lost, and navigation was lost - and I said instantly, you can't lose comms and navigation together without an extreme catastrophic event or high, highly energetic catastrophic event. And the first thing that popped to mind was an implosion.&rsquo;
James Cameron said &lsquo;many people in the community were very concerned about this sub&rsquo; and &lsquo;a number of the top players in the deep-submergence engineering community even wrote letters to the company, saying that what they were doing was too experimental to carry passengers, and that it needed to be certified.&rsquo;
The Hollywood director said that he had personally known one of the lost submersible passengers, French ocean explorer Paul-Henri &lsquo;PH&rsquo; Nargeolet.

The search operations have been centred around the area where some underwater noises were detected on June 20 and 21.

This means that the submersible may run out of oxygen by the afternoon or evening of June 22, India time.

The expedition marked the first time human eyes had seen the giant ocean liner since it struck an iceberg and sank in the frigid North Atlantic.

The vessel now lies in some 2.4 miles below the surface of the ocean.
Technical limitations as well as the vast expanse of the search area in the North Atlantic made it impossible to locate the wreck.
By 1985, WHOI had developed new imaging technology, including Argo, a camera sled that was towed from the research vessel Knorr and captured the first photographs of the ship beneath more than 12,400 feet of water.

For those who missed watching the movie, towards the end, Jack and Rose find a floating raft after the ship's fatal crash into an iceberg. Only Rose could fit on it as the raft was unstable and Jack froze to death in the chilling waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
In an interview with Happy Sad podcast host Josh Horowitz, Kate Winslet, who started as Rose in 'Titanic', has now shared her views on the ongoing debate.
The host showed the video of Leonardo to Kate as he asked the same question. Kate smiled and avoided it by saying 'no comment'. Her initial reply to the video was 'I don't know'. She stated that she personally thinks if two adults are put on a stand-up paddle board it becomes unstable.
'That would not have been a sustainable idea,' she said.
Speaking with Toronto Sun, James Cameron said they actually conducted a scientific study in the matter and they'll do a little special on it that comes out in February.
This will coincide with a 4K restoration of 'Titanic' which is scheduled to release on Valentine's Day weekend.

Bengaluru-based artist&nbsp;Baadal Nanjundaswamy is using art to spread awareness on the importance of social distancing and the use of masks in the wake of Covid-19.
His canvas includes empty walls, police stations, market places, roads and shutters among other things.
Speaking to news agency ANI he said that he noticed rules being flouted, that's when he decided to use the medium of art to convey important messages.
Some murals even incorporate movie characters to catch the public's attention. One such mural gave a twist to the famous scene from the Hollywood classic Titanic. It showcases the romantic lead standing at a distance from one another while wearing masks, instead of holding each other.
