Director Karthik Subbaraj and actor Suriya have started filming their next project, the yet-to-be-titled &lsquo;Suriya 44&rsquo;. On June 2, both shared a video announcing the start of shoot. Fans were excited to see Suriya in a retro look.
&lsquo;Lights! Camera!! Action!!! #LoveLaughterWar #AKarthikSubbarajPadam Shoot in progress&hellip;&rsquo; wrote Suriya, sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter). Karthik revealed that it was the first shot he took for the film.
The video starts with Suriya sitting on a ledge, suitcases beside him, looking out at the sea with his back to the camera. As the camera zooms in, he turns, glares, and gives a sardonic laugh. He then beckons the camera closer with a menacing look. Suriya is dressed in a colourful striped shirt, sporting a long mullet and Fu Manchu-style facial hair.
Many users expressed that the actor has nailed it with the new look in the Karthik Subbaraj-starrer. One user commented, &lsquo;Looks like #Suriya44 is a masterpiece in the making, evident in the first shot itself!&rsquo;
Many users praised Suriya for his versatility and commended the Kanguva actor for fearlessly experimenting with new looks.

On Saturday, Karthik Subbaraj announced the cast of Suriya 44 on X. Pooja Hegde will play one of the leads, alongside Jayaram, Karuna Karan, and Joju George. The film features music by Santosh Narayanan and cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna.
The announcement poster shows a burning vintage car with a tree in the foreground carved with a heart and arrow. The tagline reads, &lsquo;Love, laughter, war.&rsquo;

&lsquo;Soorarai Pottru&rsquo; won multiple awards at last year's National Film Awards. Suriya won Best Actor, while Aparna Balamurali won Best Actress for the film. The Sudha Kongara directorial also won Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score. The film was based on the life of Simplify Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath.

The winners of the 68th National Film Awards were honoured at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, on Friday ( September 30), in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu. 
Veteran actor Asha Parekh received the Dada Saheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in the field of Indian cinema. On receiving the award, she said that she is grateful to be honoured a day before her 80th birthday.
The best actor award is shared between Suriya and Ajay Devgn.
Actor Suriya received the Best actor award for ‘Soorari Pottru’ and his wife and actor Jyothika received the Best Feature film award for the same. ‘Soorarai Pottru’ won in three of the four major award categories at the award ceremony.  
Ajay Devgn received the National Award for Best Actor for 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero'. This is his third time thay he has won the coveted award. He said, ‘I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya, who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.’ 
Sachidanandan KR won Best Director for the Malayalam film ‘AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, the second major award for the film.

The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran alongwith Suraj Venjaramoodu Pasupathi Raj, G. M. Sundar and Mamta Mohandas.

As per reports in entertainment portal, Akshay Kumar has been roped in to play the lead in the film inspired by the life of Air Deccan founder Capt G R Gopinath.&nbsp;
Reportedly, Akshay has been in talks for this film for the past six months and, despite giving his verbal approval last year, he has only recently signed on the dotted line.
The Hindi remake will most likely be set in North India, and Sudha Kongara Prasad, who directed the original Tamil film, will also direct the Bollywood remake.
