The Ax-4 mission will be led by former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, Axiom Space's Director of Human Spaceflight.&nbsp;

Shukla will be joined by mission specialists Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary. This mission marks a significant milestone as it will be the first government-sponsored human spaceflight for India, Poland, and Hungary in over 40 years.
Shubhanshu Shukla will become India's second astronaut in space since 1984. His journey began in June 2006 when he was commissioned into the IAF's fighter wing.&nbsp;
As a seasoned combat leader and test pilot, Shukla has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours across various aircraft types, including the Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier, and An-32.&nbsp;
His rise to the rank of Group Captain in March 2024 reflects his extraordinary contributions to the IAF. In 2019, Shukla received a transformative call from ISRO and embarked on intense training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Moscow, preparing him for future space missions.
On February 27, 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially announced Shukla as one of the astronauts undergoing intensive training for India's first-ever human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan, scheduled for 2025.&nbsp;
By August 2024, Shukla had been selected as the 'Prime' astronaut for the upcoming Indo-US mission to the International Space Station (ISS), with Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair as his backup astronaut.&nbsp;
The Gaganyaan mission aims to demonstrate India's human spaceflight capabilities, with a crew of three astronauts orbiting at 400 km for three days before safely returning to Earth, landing in Indian sea waters.
India&rsquo;s space sector has seen remarkable advancements in recent years, especially with successful missions like Chandrayaan-3&rsquo;s lunar landing and the Aditya L1 Solar Mission. Japanese scientists have said that for the first time mouse embryos have been grown in space.

Mouse embryos have been grown on the International Space Station and developed normally in the first study indicating it could be possible for humans to reproduce in space, a group of Japanese scientists said.
 The researchers, including Teruhiko Wakayama, professor of University of Yamanashi's Advanced Biotechnology Centre, and a team from the Japan Aerospace Space Agency (JAXA), sent frozen mouse embryos on board a rocket to the ISS in August 2021.
Astronauts thawed the early-stage embryos using a special device designed for this purpose and grew them on the station for four days.
"The embryos cultured under microgravity conditions developed" normally into blastocysts, cells that develop into the foetus and placenta, the scientists said.
The experiment "clearly demonstrated that gravity had no significant effect," the researchers said in a study that was published online in the scientific journal iScience on Saturday.
They also said there were no significant changes in condition of the DNA and genes, after they analysed the blastocysts that were sent back to their laboratories on Earth.
This is "the first-ever study that shows mammals may be able to thrive in space," University of Yamanashi and national research institute Riken said in a joint statement on Saturday.
It is "the world's first experiment that cultured early-stage mammalian embryos under complete microgravity of ISS," the statement said.
 "In the future, it will be necessary to transplant the blastocysts that were cultured in ISS's microgravity into mice to see if mice can give birth" to confirm that the blastocysts are normal, it added.
Such research could be important for future space exploration and colonisation missions.
Under its Artemis programme, NASA plans to send humans back to the Moon in order to learn how to live there long-term to help prepare a trip to Mars, sometime towards the end of the 2030s.

As per the study, men with low sex drive are almost twice (1.82 times) as likely to suffer early death.&nbsp;
The researchers from Yamagata University, Japan studied around 20,000 people of which there were 8,588 men and 12,411 women.&nbsp;
The research found that those who lacked sexual interest tended to be older, had diabetes, laughed less, and were likely to drink more.
Other than this, men who were over the age of 40, and who had low libido were 1.94 times as likely to die from cancer and 1.36 times as likely to die of heart disease.&nbsp;
Researchers also noted that women reported more than twice lower libidos as men but there was no link found between low sex drive and mortality.&nbsp;
Scientists concluded by saying that maintaining sexual interest may be related to positive psychological well-being among men.&nbsp;

Olivier Gros, a co-author and biologist at the University of the French West Indies and Guiana, found the first example of this bacterium — named Thiomargarita magnifica, or “magnificent sulfur pearl” — clinging to sunken mangrove leaves in the archipelago of Guadeloupe in 2009.
But he didn't immediately know it was a bacterium because of its surprisingly large size, just over a third of an inch (0.9 centimeters) long. Only later genetic analysis revealed the organism to be a single bacterial cell.
“It's an amazing discovery,” said Petra Levin, a microbiologist at Washington University in St Louis, who was not involved in the study.
“It opens up the question of how many of these giant bacteria are out there — and reminds us we should never, ever underestimate bacteria.” Gros also found the bacterium attached to oyster shells, rocks and glass bottles in the swamp.
Scientists have not yet been able to grow it in lab culture, but the researchers' say the cell has a structure that's unusual for bacteria. One key difference: It has a large central compartment, or vacuole, that allows some cell functions to happen in that controlled environment instead of throughout the cell.
“The acquisition of this large central vacuole definitely helps a cell to bypass physical limitations ... on how big a cell can be,” said Manuel Campos, a biologist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research, who was not involved in the study.
The researchers said they aren't certain why the bacterium is so large, but co-author Volland hypothesised it may be an adaptation to help it avoid being eaten by smaller organisms.

Researchers from East Anglia University assessed the effects of different scenarios on the reproduction and longevity across four generations of roundworms, calling the transparent creatures&nbsp;a classic model organism for studying the ageing process in biology because they do share many genes and molecular pathways that control development with humans.&nbsp;
The team discovered that fasting did indeed increase their lifespan and also improved offspring performance in terms of reproduction when offspring themselves were fasting.&nbsp;However, they were surprised to find that fasting reduced offspring performance when the offspring had access to unlimited food.&nbsp;

The jury is still out on whether fasting&nbsp;is&nbsp;healthy&nbsp;or not. Researchers have revealed that fasting diets could, in fact, impact future generations.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The new research found that reduced food intake&nbsp;in roundworms has a detrimental effect on the lifespans of the next three generations of offspring &ndash; particularly when those descendants had access to unlimited food.&nbsp;
Researchers from East Anglia University assessed the effects of different scenarios on the reproduction and longevity across four generations of roundworms, calling the transparent creatures&nbsp;a classic model organism for studying the ageing process in biology because they do share many genes and molecular pathways that control development with humans.&nbsp;
The team discovered that fasting did indeed increase their lifespan and also improved offspring performance in terms of reproduction when offspring themselves were fasting.&nbsp;However, they were surprised to find that fasting reduced offspring performance when the offspring had access to unlimited food.&nbsp;
Publishing their findings in the journal 'Proceedings of the Royal Society B,' the team&nbsp;said that fasting diets have gotten quite popular in the last few years but we might need to&nbsp;also&nbsp;consider the&nbsp;multigenerational effects of&nbsp;the concept.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bose was one of nine children&nbsp;who were awarded the Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Ignited Mind Children Creativity and Innovation Awards 2020.
Talking about her innovation, Digantika&nbsp;told Indian Express,&nbsp;&ldquo;The head band is a facemask extender that simply connects the ear straps and extends them to wrap around the back of your head. As a result, there will be no pressure on the ears, and hence no discomfort or pain.&rdquo;
