New Delhi, Aug 29 (PTI) &mdash; The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by rain in the capital on Friday.
According to the department, the day is expected to be humid, with the relative humidity at 8:30 AM recorded at 92 percent.
The minimum temperature registered was 26.2 degrees Celsius, marginally lower by 0.3 degrees from normal, while the maximum temperature is anticipated to reach around 34 degrees Celsius.
As per the IMD's observations at 8:30 AM, Delhi experienced different levels of rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Safdarjung recording 13.4 mm, Palam 6.2 mm, Lodhi Road 9.8 mm, Ridge 1.8 mm, and Aya Nagar 29.3 mm.
The air quality index (AQI) of Delhi is in the 'moderate' category, showing a reading of 110 at 9 AM, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) ticker.
The CPCB states that an AQI between zero and 50 is deemed "good", 51 to 100 "satisfactory", 101 to 200 "moderate", 201 to 300 "poor", 301 to 400 "very poor", and 401 to 500 "severe".

Delhi on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 33.1 degrees Celsius, 6.9 notches below the season's average, and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius, 2.3 notches below normal.
Relative humidity was recorded at 50 percent at 5.30 pm.
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms and rain in the city on Wednesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle at 34 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Delhi received 186.4 mm of rainfall in May, making it the wettest May on record. May this year surpassed the previous record of 165 mm set in the month in 2008.
Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 143, in the 'moderate' category, on Tuesday, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate,' 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe.'

A woman and her three daughters, aged between two and five, were killed after their 'kutcha' house collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, officials said on Sunday.
Moderate to heavy rains lashed several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on March 1 and 2. Dozens of structures including residential houses were also damaged by strong winds and hailstorm in different parts of Jammu region.
In the Reasi incident, Phalla Akhter (30), her daughters Nasima (5), Safeena Kousar (3) and Samreen Kousar (2) lost their lives when their house in Kunderdhan Mohra village in Chassana tehsil collapsed following heavy rains, the officials said.
Two elderly members of the family -- Kalu (60) and his wife Bano Begum (58) -- suffered injuries in the incident and were taken to hospital, they said.
The bodies were retrieved from the debris by rescuers, they added.

However, experts are of the view that delays in the onset of monsoon in Kerala is not a matter of concern as it is not the first time and expressed hope that the rains in the next 2-3 weeks would make up for the deficit at the beginning.

Amid heavy rains across Maharashtra, a house collapse was reported in Palghar district and boulders fell from a hillock in Thane, according to officials. They added that no casualty was reported so far. 
Civic officials in Thane's Kalyan Town area confirmed that some heavy boulders fell from a hillock but no one was injured.  Thane city, in a span of 24 hours ending on 8:30 AM on Tuesday received 146 mm rainfall, according to regional data.  Low-lying areas in Thane's Kalyan and Bhiwandi also reported flooding leading to evacuation of several people to safer places. 
In Palghar, district adminstration said that a mud house collapsed in Wada taluka on Monday following heavy rains. Occupants of the house were removed once cracks were observed in the house and within minutes, the house collapsed.
The house was constructed last year under a government scheme for the poor, according to the district administration.
 The IMD on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert for Maharashtra over the next four days, following which Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed the state administration officials to take precautions and ensure there is no loss of life or property.
The Kundalika river in Raigad district, located near Mumbai, has crossed the danger mark, as per an official statement.

Waterlogging that submerged houses and shops was reported in Kochi as heavy rains lashed the state.  IMD, meanwhile has forecasted continued rains until Sunday in Kerala. According to a bulletin issued by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Saturday night, three persons, including a woman, lost their lives in Haflong revenue circle of Dima Hasao.
The hill district has been ravaged by flash floods and massive landslides at several places, snapping rail and road links from other parts of the state.
ASDMA said that landslides have been reported from New Kunjung, Fiangpui, Moulhoi, Namzeurang, South Bagetar, Mahadev Tilla, Kalibari, North Bagetar, Zion and Lodi Pangmoul villages, where around 80 houses were severely affected.
"Railway line at Jatinga-Harangajao and Mahur-Phaiding was blocked due to landslides. Before reaching Maibang tunnel at Geremlambra village, road is likely to be blocked due to landslides," it added.
The ASDMA further said that nearly 25,000 people are affected by floods across five districts in Assam.
The worst-hit is Cachar with over 21,000 people affected, followed by Karbi Anglong West with nearly 2,000 victims and Dhemaji with more than 600 persons hit by the deluge.
At least 227 people are taking shelter in 10 relief camps and distribution centres set up across two districts.
Nearly 2,200 people were rescued by the Army, paramilitary forces, Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF, civil administration and trained volunteers from Cachar and Hojai districts.
Incidents of massive waterlogging have been reported from various parts of Guwahati.
The ASDMA has issued flood alert for Cachar, Karimganj, Dhemaji, Morigaon and Nagaon districts for the next 12-72 hours.

At least 227 people are taking shelter in 10 relief camps and distribution centres set up across two districts.
Nearly 2,200 people were rescued by the Army, paramilitary forces, Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF, civil administration and trained volunteers from Cachar and Hojai districts.
Incidents of massive waterlogging have been reported from various parts of Guwahati.
The ASDMA has issued flood alert for Cachar, Karimganj, Dhemaji, Morigaon and Nagaon districts for the next 12-72 hours.

The national capital and several parts of north India woke up to light and heavy showers on Tuesday morning bringing a respite from the blistering heat. Isolated rains over Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad have been witnessed in the last 48 hours. The weatherman said a western disturbance over Pakistan and effects of cyclone Vayu are behind the moisture laden winds travelling to north India. Since Monday the temperature was hovering below the normal by several degrees.
