Massive erosion of land and landslides have devastated the state, causing more hurdles in the efforts to restore normalcy.

The Brahmaputra and some of its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark at in several places.

The Army has been deployed for relief and rescue efforts while IAF airdropped food materials in flood hit areas.

In the coastal state of Kerala at the other end of the country, normal life remains affected too.

Waterlogging that submerged houses and shops was reported in Kochi as heavy rains lashed the state.

IMD, meanwhile has forecasted continued rains until Sunday in Kerala. The state is expected to witness heavy rains in nine districts.

Karnataka’s Bengaluru witnessed deluge, wreaking havoc in the city. The weather department has issued an ‘orange’ alert in many parts predicting heavy rains for the next 4-5 days.
