Weeks after the daylight murder of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal, Uttar Pradesh Police doubled the amount of reward money for information leading to the arrest of five accused.
The accused include MP Atiq Ahmed's son Asad. The reward amount has been increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh.

Based on a complaint lodged by Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal, a case was registered at Dhoomanganj police station against Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen, two sons, aides Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, and nine others.
Two men allegedly linked to Umesh Pal's murder -- Arbaaz and Vijay Chowdhary alias Usman -- were killed in encounters with the police on February 27 and March 6 respectively.
Atiq Ahmed is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.

Umesh Pal and his police security guard were shot dead on Friday outside his home in Prayagraj.

Uttar Pradesh police on Monday gunned down one of the accused in the sensational February 24 killing of a prime witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case in an encounter here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Navendu Kumar told PTI that Arbaaz, who was the driver of the white SUV used by the assailants to attack witness Umesh Pal, was surrounded by police teams following an intelligence input.
He opened fire on the police team and was injured in the ensuing encounter in Nehru Park under Dhoomanganj police station at around 3 pm, Kumar said.
He was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead, the officer said.
"Arbaaz was accompanied by two or three other people who managed to escape from the spot. We are trying to track them," the officer added.

Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath had vowed to destroy the mafias after the opposition Samajwadi Party had questioned the law and order situation in the state in the wake of the killing.&nbsp;

Actor Rajpal Yadav accidentally hit a student while riding a scooter during a shoot and allegedly injured him. The incident happened during the shooting of a Hindi movie in the Katra area of Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, ETimes quoted the police as saying. &nbsp;
The student filed a complaint to the Colonelganj police in connection with the incident and alleged misbehaviour by the film's team. &nbsp;
The actor too filed a complaint and alleged that some people including the student tried to disturb the shooting which was being held with the permission of the district administration. &nbsp;
The Station House Officer at Colonelganj Police Station, Ram Mohan Rai, said that the actor was riding an old scooter. He added, &lsquo;The actor lost control and hit the student after its clutch wire broke&rsquo;. The student had no visible injuries, the police officer said. He continued, &lsquo;However, further investigation is being carried out following which further action will be taken.&rsquo; &nbsp;
Comedian Rajpal Yadav reportedly began shooting with his team for their forthcoming movie near Laxmi Talkies crossing in the morning. The locals, including students, were curious and gathered at the location to witness the shooting. The team further went towards Bank Road where the actor was shooting a scene in which he was riding a scooter.&nbsp;

The hospital came into the limelight after it allegedly transfused fruit juice instead of blood platelets to a dengue patient. The civic authority has termed the building as "illegally constructed". The hospital is likely to be bulldozed.
 Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has assured strict action against the hospital if they are found guilty. He said that the platelets packet has been sent for testing. "Taking cognizance of the viral video of Jhalwa-based Global Hospital offering 'Mausambi' juice to a dengue patient in place of platelets in the district Prayagraj, the hospital has been immediately sealed and the platelets packet has been sent for testing.
If found guilty, strict action will be taken against the hospital," Pathak tweeted in Hindi. Earlier, the hospital was sealed after a preliminary inquiry revealed that "some irregularities" were found according to Additional Chief Medical Officer, Dr AK Tiwari. "The (CMO) chief medical officer ordered a probe after the patient died.
In the probe, some irregularities were found. The hospital has been sealed till the probe is completed," the additional CMO said on Thursday.

In an unbelievable case of medical negligence, a dengue patient was allegedly transfused with fruit juice instead of blood platelets at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. The patient later died.
The incident occurred in UP's Prayagraj. Authorities swung into action when a purported video of the incident went viral on social media. The private hospital was sealed on 20 October 2022.
UP's Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reportedly said that the transfusion packs have been sent for testing, and if found guilty, strict action would be taken against hospital officials.
The owner of the hospital in question denied any wrongdoing. He said that the patient's relatives had been asked to arrange blood platelets as his platelet count had dropped.

The hospital owner said that the relatives brought five units of platelets from SRN Hospital, but the patient had a reaction after transfusion of three units, and so the treatment was stopped. He claimed that the platelet packs had stickers of SRN Hospital on them.

A day after it was claimed that a dengue patient was transfused with fruit juice instead of platelets, Uttar Pradesh police busted a gang operating a fake platelet operation in Prayagraj.
Ten members of a gang allegedly selling fake platelets were arrested on 21 October 2022. Police said that the accused took plasma from various blood banks, put it in pouches, and sold it as platelets.
A day earlier, a private hospital in Prayagraj was sealed over allegations that a dengue patient died after being given juice transfusion instead of platelets. A link between the arrests and the case of the dengue patient's death is not clear yet.
Regarding the juice controversy, police said that it is still being ascertained whether the pouches contained sweet lime juice or something else.
The hospital's owner had said that the pouches were brought by the patient's relatives from another hospital, and treatment was stopped after he developed a reaction to the transfusion.

PM Modi In Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is headed to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to give fillip to BJP's campaign for <a href="https://www.editorji.com/elections/up-elections" target="_blank">UP Assembly elections</a> next year.
The Prime Minister, who is spearheading the party's campaign with major launches and inaugurations, will transfer around ₹ 1,000 crores in the bank account of Self Help Groups, benefiting&nbsp;around 16 lakh women members.
The government has said that the event will be a "one of its kind programme" that will be attended by over two lakh women.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will also transfer stipends in the account of women engaged in doorstep financial services at the&nbsp;grassroot&nbsp;level.

During the programme, PM Narendra&nbsp;Modi will also transfer over 20 crores to more than 1 lakh beneficiaries under the &lsquo;Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme&rsquo;. The scheme provides conditional cash transfer to a girl child at different stages of her life.
This will be the 10th day the prime minister will spend in <a href="https://www.editorji.com/elections/up-elections/up-elections-2022-pm-s-upyogi-mathematics-for-uttar-pradesh-1639832279712" target="_blank">Uttar Pradesh</a> in just the last month as he leads the BJP's campaign in the politically crucial state where elections are likely to start in two months.

According to the police, Mahant Giri's body was found hanging from the ceiling by his disciples.
A purported suicide note of seven-eight pages was also found at the site in which the seer had written that he was mentally disturbed and was ending his life. The seer had written he was upset with one of his disciples, the police said.
Police said the suicide note named Mahant's disciple, Anand Giri, and two others as responsible for the extreme step.&nbsp;Anand Giri&nbsp;has been detained.
He had also delegated various responsibilities to his disciples in the note, they said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death, saying the mahant played an important role in bringing together different streams of seer bodies while remaining dedicated to spiritual traditions.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath&nbsp;and SP chief Akhilesh&nbsp;Yadav also paid their tributes t the seer.
Prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide but things will be clearer after the post-mortem and forensic tests, the police said.

Inspector General of Police K P Singh said that police had received a call at 5.30 pm from the Muth that the seer had hanged himself and added that his body was found at the guest house where he lived during the day.

Singh said a decision will be taken on the last rites of the seer after the arrival of office bearers of the Akhara Parishad.
The sadhu had also talked about the construction of a 'samadhi' in the suicide note, he said, adding the decision on it will also be taken by the Akhara Parishad's office bearers.
The IGP said information about the seer's death was shared with the chief minister's office.
The influential Hindu seer was hospitalised in April after he tested positive from <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/call-for-investigation-does-the-covid-19-vaccine-have-an-impact-on-menstruation-1632116036399" target="_blank">Covid-19</a>. Several political and religious leaders condoled his demise.

His demise is extremely painful, Modi tweeted. "The death of Mahant Narendra Giri ji, President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, is an irreparable loss to the spiritual world. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and strength to the bereaved followers to bear this sorrow. Om Shanti," Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/plea-filed-in-bihar-court-against-yogi-adityanath-s-abbajaan-remark-1631585720958" target="_blank">Yogi Adityanath</a> tweeted.
Heavy police force was deployed at the Muth from 6 pm onwards and barricades were set up in the surrounding areas. All top officials, including the divisional commissioner, the district magistrate, IG, SSP, were present at the Muth.
