Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Nov 13 had announced that schools & colleges would remain closed due to the poor air quality, and will now reopen from November 29 onwards, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on wednesday.
Gopal Rai said, private CNG buses that have been hired to augment public transport will be deployed in areas where Delhi government employees live, like Timarpur and Gulabi Bagh, and shuttle buses will be deployed from metro stations close to the Delhi Secretariat to facilitate the transport to employees.
Only CNG and electric trucks carrying non-essential services will be allowed entry into Delhi from Nov 27 to Dec 3 and entry of trucks, apart from those carrying essentials, has been banned.
The air pollution level, which had worsened after Diwali, has improved and reached the pre-Diwali situation, Rai said.

The Delhi government has lifted the ban on construction and demolition activities in view of an improvement in the air quality and inconvenience caused to workers, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday.
He however said that strict monitoring will continue and any site violating the guidelines for pollution control will be shut down immediately and penalised.

The Delhi government on Sunday night extended the ban on the entry of trucks carrying non-essential items to combat air pollution and minimise its health effects.
Strong surface winds gusting up to 30 kilometers per hour barrelled through the capital on Monday, dispersing pollutants and improving the air quality. Delhi's Air Quality Indiex (AQI) stood at 307 at 1 pm, down from 349 at 4 pm on Sunday.

The Delhi government on Sunday night extended the ban on the entry of trucks carrying non-essential items to combat air pollution and minimise its health effects.
Strong surface winds gusting up to 30 kilometers per hour barrelled through the capital on Monday, dispersing pollutants and improving the air quality. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 307 at 1 pm, down from 349 at 4 pm on Sunday.

Compared to the first smog episode of previous four years, the current smog has matched the duration of the first smog of 2018 and 2020 season -- both lasted six days. If conditions don't improve, it might overtake the 2019 smog that lasted eight days, the CSE said.
The average intensity of the smog this year so far is 329 microgram per cubic metre per day, which is lower than that of the 2020 smog (by 7 per cent) and 2019 smog (by 3 per cent). It is more intense than the 2018 smog (about 9 per cent).
Lingering on of this year's smog for longer duration despite relatively windier local conditions might be due to the lack of pollution control measures in the city, the green think tank said.
