In the latest poll, conducted late last year, more than half of those who said they were dissatisfied with their level of flexibility also said they were burned out.&nbsp;

A study published in JAMA Ophthalmology, reported that myopia in children aged between 6 to 13 increased up to three times in the year 2020. On average, children were more shortsighted by -0.3 diopters.
Researchers analysed nearly 195,000 test results from school vision screenings collected over six years. They found that not only does myopia appear to be worsening, it seems to be more prevalent too. Only 5.7% of children were found to have myopia from 2015 to 2019; last year, that jumped to 21.5%.
Myopia is the most common ocular disorder and a leading cause of visual impairment in children. High myopia can cause serious retinal damage that can lead to blindness. As per World Health Organization, it is estimated to affect 52% of the world population by 2050.
According to researchers, home confinement during Covid and reduced outdoor activity is associated with worsening eyesight. Those hoping to keep their myopia from worsening, should follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to view something 20 feet away.

The team included 124 girls for the study who had already been diagnosed with idiopathic Central Precocious Puberty. It turned out that 66 girls were diagnosed with the condition 3 years before the Covid-19 pandemic and 58 of them within just one year post the pandemic which is from April 2020&ndash;March 2021.&nbsp;
Experts say the reasons could be inactive lifestyle. Due to pandemic, we were all locked indoors including children. With schools shut for months and no physical activities, their metabolism could have been affected resulting in weight gain. Another reason for this condition could be increased screen time due to online classes. &nbsp;

In its report, the 190-country lending agency forecast trimmed its 2023 global <a href="https://www.editorji.com/partner/databaaz/india-s-gdp-growth-will-be-more-constrained-next-year-1662544677172">GDP growth</a> forecast to 2.7 percent, 0.2 point down from July expectations.
The world economy has been dealt multiple blows, with the war in Ukraine driving up food and energy prices following the coronavirus outbreak, while soaring costs and rising interest rates threaten to reverberate around the globe.&nbsp;
The global growth profile is its weakest since 2001, apart from during the global financial crisis and the worst of the pandemic, the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/imf-warns-global-recession-risks-darker-outlook-how-could-it-affect-you-1665141928248">International Monetary Fund (IMF)</a> said.

Given seasonality, countries should expect increased potential transmission in winter months.’
However, the study noted that the impact of the virus will be less. It said, "The impacts of future SARS-CoV-2 transmission on health, however, will be less because of broad previous exposure to the virus, regularly adapted vaccines to new antigens or variants, the advent of antivirals, and the knowledge that the vulnerable can protect themselves during future waves when needed by using high-quality masks and physical distancing."
"In the era of omicron, Covid-19 control strategies need to be reset. Given the speed and intensity of the omicron wave, efforts to contact trace seem to be futile," it said.
The study underscored the efforts taken by governments and societies worldwide to adapt to the pandemic and how it has changed and saved lives. It said, "The extraordinary societal efforts over the past two years to respond to a new pathogen have changed how individuals live their lives. Policy responses have been developed in governments around the world. These efforts have saved countless lives globally,"

This was regardless of whether their mother was infected with the virus during pregnancy or not.

The study is based on data from 225 babies born in New York City&nbsp;which was the U.S. epicentre in the outbreak&rsquo;s early days.&nbsp;Although the differences observed were small, experts say it does make you question what is impairing the&nbsp;foundational skills&nbsp;such as motor skills in pandemic babies.&nbsp;
Interestingly, it was predicted that mask-wearing would affect babies&rsquo; communication but the study observed that pandemic babies, in fact, scored higher in communication skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Overall, the team&nbsp;cautioned&nbsp;that the findings&nbsp;may not be indicative of long-term lags in development.

A new study suggests that people turned to music to cope with psychological and emotional challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A study published in Psychology of Music suggested that people adjusted their music listening habits as a way of coping with the COVID-19 crisis. The study specifically focused on people&rsquo;s impressions of how their music listening habits changed (or did not change) during the lockdown period when compared to regular times.

For the study, the researchers surveyed 5,000 participants from six countries, during the first COVID lockdown from April to May 2020. People from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, India and the United States answered questions online about their exposure to music during the coronavirus pandemic.
As per the findings, more than half of the respondents listened to music to cope with emotional and social stress. Researchers also found that people who had an increase in positive emotions were either listening or making music to cope with their feelings during the pandemic.
