A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra's Thane district where a man allegedly killed his mother in a fit of rage sparked by dissatisfaction over the food she served him

A heartwrenching incident has come to light as a man from Maharashtra's Thane district allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother after a fight with her over not serving him tasty food, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Sunday, November 26 evening at Velu village in Murbad taluka, an official from Thane rural police control room said.
The woman and her son used to have frequent quarrels over domestic issues.
On Sunday, the man again had a quarrel with his mother and complained that she did not cook and serve him tasty food, the police said quoting the FIR.
The man, in a fit of anger, allegedly attacked his mother with a sickle on her neck following which she collapsed and died, the official said.
Some persons from the neighbourhood alerted police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem.
After the incident, the accused allegedly had an overdose of sleeping pills. He was hospitalised by relatives and has not yet been arrested, the official said.
A case was registered on Monday against the accused under Indian Penal Code section 302.

A recent study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology &amp; Metabolism stated that women with obesity might pass on the disease's risk to their daughters but not to their sons.&nbsp;
The researchers measured body fat and muscle in 240 children (9 years old or younger) and their parents. They used data to determine the body mass index, the amount of body fat and muscle in the children and the parents.&nbsp;
It was found that girls had a similar BMI and fat mass as their mothers and inherit a high risk of developing obesity or being overweight from them. The research did not find the same thing between boys and their mothers.&nbsp;

As per preliminary information, when the woman was busy digging soil with a pick-axe, a wild boar appeared and charged towards her daughter.

A courageous woman fought off a wild boar to save her 11-year-old daughter at a farmland in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, forest officials said on Monday.
While her daughter remained unhurt, the woman died of serious injuries suffered in the face-off with the animal, they said.
The incident took place on Sunday in Teliyamar village under Pasan police station limits when the woman, identified as Duvashiya Bai (45) and her daughter Rinki went to a nearby farm to fetch soil, said Pasan forest range officer Ramnivas Dahayat said.
As per preliminary information, when the woman was busy digging soil with a pick-axe, a wild boar suddenly reached there and charged towards her daughter, he said.

Duvashiya confronted the animal with the pick-axe in a desperate bid to save her child, the official said.
In the struggle, the woman managed to kill the wild boar but she also suffered serious injuries leading to her death, he said.
No harm was reported to the girl, the official said.
Soon after being alerted, forest personnel reached the spot and the woman's body was sent for post-mortem, he said.

Khanam had given birth to a boy at the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital here on March 3, 2019. She was shifted to the ICU after the delivery and the newborn was kept in the baby room.
Khanam’s husband was informed by the Hospital authority the next day that their son had died. Unwilling to accept it as their son was healthy at birth, the couple had filed a case against the Hospital at the Barpeta Sadar Police Station.
During the course of enquiry, police found that one Najma Khatun of Gossaigaon had got her newborn male child admitted to the same Hospital on the same day in a very serious condition and he had died the same day.
The nurse on duty had mixed up the two infants and handed the dead child to Najma Khanam’s husband.
The boy’s biological parentage was determined through a DNA test as ordered by the court, leading to his reunion with his actual family.

Mammography helps pick up non palpable lesions which have no symptoms, yet. Early diagnosis helps breast sparing surgery with good prognosis. High risk factors for women are strong family history of breast cancer, first degree relative with BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene mutation, Exposure to radiation therapy to chest between 10 and 30 years of age. Women ages 40 to 44 can get annual breast cancer screening if they wish to. Women ages 45 to 54 should get mammograms annually while women over 55 years should get these done every two years or even annually. Breast ultrasound may sometimes be coupled with mammogram for a better diagnosis.&nbsp;</li>
<li>PAP smear and HPV testing to look at possible carcinoma cervix. This is the second most common gynaecological malignancy among Indian women ages 25 to 44. This is the only cancer that can be prevented by picking up abnormal precancerous cells and HPV virus before turning malignant. Cervical cancer screening begins at age 25. Those between ages 25 to 65 should undergo a primary HPV test every five years. If primary HPV testing is not available then combined HPV testing with a pap smear should be done very five years or Pap smear alone very three years. People over 65 years who had regular testing in past 10 years with normal results do not need cervical screening. No need for screening following uterus removal if cervix was removed for benign reasons.&nbsp;</li>

A new study from the UK finds that children aged 8-9 years were more likely to be obese if their&nbsp;mother had a poor diet before and during pregnancy. Published in the International Journal of Obesity, the long-running&nbsp;study&nbsp;analysed nearly 3,000 mother-child pairs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The survey, which began when the women first considered childbirth and went on till the kids turned 8 or 9, found&nbsp;that women with fewer academic qualifications,&nbsp;those who&nbsp;smoked and had a higher BMI (body mass index) generally fell into the&nbsp;&lsquo;worse&rsquo; diet group with their offspring.&nbsp;&nbsp;
India, reportedly, has the second-highest number of obese children in the world after China. Childhood obesity causes long-lasting&nbsp;health problems that extend well into adulthood.
The researchers say&nbsp;that this&nbsp;is why&nbsp;it's&nbsp;especially&nbsp;important to intervene at the earliest possible stage in a child&rsquo;s life, whether that&rsquo;s during pregnancy or before conception.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from 1st August to 7th August every year. The week aims at commemorating the Innocenti Declaration of 1990 which was an effort by the World Health Organisation and UNICEF to protect, promote and support breastfeeding for sustainable development.
First observed in 1992 the breastfeeding week has a different theme every year. The theme for 2021 is &ldquo;Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility.&rdquo; Through this theme, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) aims at drawing attention towards the need for efforts and investments from all levels of society in order to protect human milk feeding. WABA has also highlighted that scaling up breastfeeding can help prevent 20,000 maternal deaths and 8,23,000 child deaths annually.
Breastfeeding can help equip a baby with a good and healthy start to life. As per the Innocenti Declaration, it also improves health as it reduces the incidence and severity of infectious diseases. As for women&rsquo;s health, it helps reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
But successful breastfeeding needs support from one&rsquo;s family, healthcare workers and also the community. Governments the world over must invest to make breastfeeding counseling available for both women and healthcare workers. Based on&nbsp;findings of the INTERCOVID Study, the team concluded that&nbsp;the risk to mothers and babies is far greater than acknowledged at the beginning of the pandemic.&nbsp;
It was found that women with COVID-19 during pregnancy were over 50% more likely to experience pregnancy complications (such as premature birth, pre-eclampsia, admission to intensive care and death) compared to pregnant women unaffected by the virus.
Secondly, the babies birthed by infected mothers were&nbsp;also nearly three times more at risk of severe medical complications, mostly due to premature birth, noted the researchers.&nbsp;
However, breastfeeding does not seem to heighten the risk of babies contracting Covid-19 from their mothers, scientists said.
Published in the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics, the study assessed over 2,100 pregnant women across 18 countries.&nbsp;
