Study shows risk of obesity might get passed on from mothers to daughters

A recent study published in the Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism stated that women with obesity might pass on the disease's risk to their daughters but not to their sons.

The researchers measured body fat and muscle in 240 children (9 years old or younger) and their parents. They used data to determine the body mass index, the amount of body fat and muscle in the children and the parents.

It was found that girls had a similar BMI and fat mass as their mothers and inherit a high risk of developing obesity or being overweight from them. The research did not find the same thing between boys and their mothers.
