The number is still expected to rise as bodies are pulled out of the rubble.
News agency AP reported that 1,351 people were reported dead from the Al Haouz district in the High Atlas Mountains. Authorities informed that over 2,400 people were also injured.
Friday night&rsquo;s earthquake has become one of the worst modern-day natural disasters to hit Morocco.
Morocco has declined all foreign aid from all countries, except Spain, Qatar, Britain and the United Arab Emirates. The United States and France also reportedly offered aid to the North African country.
The Interior Ministry said that &ldquo;authorities have carefully assessed the needs on the ground, bearing in mind that a lack of coordination in such cases would be counterproductive,&rdquo; AP reported.
&ldquo;We know there is a great urgency to save people and dig under the remains of buildings,&rdquo; said Arnaud Fraisse, founder of Rescuers Without Borders, who had a team stuck in Paris waiting for the green light.

Algeria severed diplomatic ties with Morocco in 2021, citing hostile actions from their neighbours. The dispute meant that all direct flights between the two countries were suspended.
And while the Atlas Lions' under-23 team waited for hours at the Rabat-Sale airport, with CAF President Patrice Motsepe and FIFA President Gianni Infantino also in attendance, approval from the Algerian govt never came through.

The Germans could never recover after the defeat and were knocked out of the group stages for the 2nd time in a row.
The Blue Samurai then also went on to register another upset in the World Cup by beating 2010 champions Spain 2-1 in their last group game encounter.

With France already through to the knockout stages after back-to-back wins in their opening 2 encounters, Didier Deschamps made 9 changes against Tunisia in the 3rd match.&nbsp;
Turns out, underestimating the Carthage Eagles was a big mistake as the Tunisians went on to beat Les Bleus 1-0 courtesy of a Wahbi Khazri goal. This was Tunisia's first victory over France in the World Cup in over 50 years.

Starting their 2022 World Cup campaign in Group F alongside 2018 runners-up Croatia and Belgium, the Atlas Lions were not expected to make it through to the next round. However, Walid Regragui's men set the tone for their tournament when they remained unbeaten in the group stage and produced an upset by beating the golden generation of Belgium 2-0 in their 2nd game. The Atlas Lions eventually finished top of the table, having not conceded a goal from an opposition player in the group.
Qualifying for the next round as table toppers, the fairytale run didn't end early as there was more to this Moroccan side than anybody had ever imagined. The Round of 16 showed the resilient side of the Atlas Lions who managed to take heavyweights Spain to penalties and eventually emerged as 3-0 winners in the end.
The surprising momentum saw them get the better of Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal 1-0 in the quarters as well to become the first-ever African nation to play in the World Cup semis
However, every good thing comes to an end as the fairytale run ended in the last 4 courtesy of a 2-0 defeat to defending champions France.

After 63 exciting and eventful games, the final between Lionel Messi's Argentina and the defending champions France lived up to everyone's expectation. With the score on 3-3 after an exhilerating 120 minutes of football, it was Argentina who won the penalty shootout 4-2 courtesy of an Emiliano Martinez save which helped in fulfilling Messi's lifelong dream of lifting the World Cup.

Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saiss, Noussair Mazraoui, all three had injury doubts before the match. However, the bruised side gave a tough fight despite the odds until the 79th minute when Randal Kolo Muani landed a final blow with France's second goal.

When asked about Sunday's game being his last at World Cup by an Argentine sports newspaper, Ole, Lionel Messi who by the 2026 FIFA World Cup will turn 39 said, 'there's a lot of years ahead for the next one and I don't think I'll make it. And to finish it this way is the best.'&nbsp;
It will be the perfect sendoff for the football hero, if Argentina beat France or Morocco, whichever team reaches the final next, on Sunday.&nbsp;

Former top football stars such as Brazil&rsquo;s Cafu, Portugal&rsquo;s Nuno Gomes, Italy's Del Piero and many others took to the pitch during a World Cup encounter in Qatar on Monday &ndash; but this time no trophies were at stake, just fun.
The so-called FIFA Legends took part in a friendly match with Qatar-based workers at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha.

According to the organisers, over 5,000 people attended the match.
It was a side event of the World Cup ahead of the semi-finals that will see Argentina face Croatia and France against the surprise of the tournament, Morocco.

Portugal's Bruno Fernandes was clearly not happy with the officiating during the quarter-final tie against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and ranted about the same in his post-match interview as well.

The Manchester United midfielder said that the man in charge, Facundo Tello, wasn&rsquo;t up to the task of such a high-profile game and also wanted to know why an Argentine referee was chosen to officiate the game while his nation is still in the World Cup.

Portugal's Bruno Fernandes was clearly not happy with the officials during the quarter-final tie against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The Manchester United midfielder said that the referee, Facundo Tello, wasn&rsquo;t up to the task for such a high-profile game and also raised questions about why an Argentine referee was chosen to officiate the game while his nation is still in contention for the World Cup.
"Don't touch me, I'll say what I have to say. F*** them&hellip;&rdquo; Fernandes ranted after the game as he was seen being calmed by a Portugal Football Federation official.
He added: &ldquo;I have to say that it is very strange to have a referee refereeing us from a country [Argentina] that still has its team in the competition and we don't have Portuguese referees in the World Cup.&ldquo;
"Our referees are in the Champions League, so they have the quality and level to be here. These officials don't referee in the Champions League, they're not used to this type of game, and they don't have the pace for it. They clearly tilted the field."
In the first half, there is a clear penalty on me, without a doubt, because I am isolated and never in my life let myself fall, when I was alone with the goalkeeper and could shoot at the goal. As simple as that," he further added.

In Qatar, hundreds of elated fans clad in green and red outside Al Thumama Stadium celebrated Morocco&rsquo;s win, chanting, ululating, banging on drums and waving the national flag.
Fans chanting were seen chanting: "Belgium, this way. Canada, this way. Spain, this way. Portugal, this way. Morocco.," and drum roll.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Moroccan fans rejoiced their team's victory on the streets of Paris as well.
But the Paris Police had to use tear gas as some fans threw projectiles at the Champs Elysees.
Earlier, three African nations managed to reach the quarterfinals and now Morocco have surpassed the three other African sides &ndash; Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana.

With the victory, the Atlas Lions become the first African side to go through to the World Cup semi-finals.
It was Morocco's En-Nesyri who broke the deadlock for his side with an incredible leaping header right on the cusp of half time which eventually turned out to be the match-winner in the end.
Portugal did come close to levelling the score when Bruno Fernandes' strike hit the crossbar just before the half-time whistle, but in the end they failed to breach the Moroccan goal.
