Football legends play friendly game with workers in Qatar ahead of World Cup semis

Former top football stars such as Brazil’s Cafu, Portugal’s Nuno Gomes, Italy's Del Piero and many others took to the pitch during a World Cup encounter in Qatar on Monday – but this time no trophies were at stake, just fun.

The so-called FIFA Legends took part in a friendly match with Qatar-based workers at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha.

Even FIFA President Gianni Infantino took on a new role, as he dressed up as a referee and dished out yellow cards.

According to the organisers, over 5,000 people attended the match.

It was a side event of the World Cup ahead of the semi-finals that will see Argentina face Croatia and France against the surprise of the tournament, Morocco.
