MM Keeravani, music composer of &lsquo;RRR&rsquo;s Oscar-winning song &lsquo;Naatu Naatu&rsquo;, paid tribute to The Carpenters by singing his version of &lsquo;Top Of The World&rsquo; in his acceptance speech at the 95th Academy Awards. He has now received a special reply from singer Richard Carpenter.
Richard shared a video on Instagram in which he, along with his daughters can be seen performing to a rejigged version of &lsquo;Top Of The World&rsquo; with the lyrics, &lsquo;We're on the top of the world for your winning creation and we hope you know how proud of you we are. You're the best there is around and we hope you know it now, your win puts us at the top of the world.&rsquo;

Music composer MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose took to the stage after the film was announced as the winner by presenters Janelle Monae and Kate Hudson. During his speech, Keeravani mentioned that he grew up listening to &lsquo;The Carpenters&rsquo; and broke into a version of &lsquo;Top of the World&rsquo; in which he paid tribute to the director and India. &lsquo;There was only one wish on my mind, so was Rajamouli&rsquo;s and my family&rsquo;s, RRR has to win, pride of every Indian and must put me on top of the world,&rsquo; he sang as the crowd cheered for him.

Ram Charan&rsquo;s wife Upasana Kamineni also shared a video that showed the lead stars of the film hugging each other when the win was announced. Director SS Rajamouli almost jumped from his seat in excitement and then hugged his wife, Rama.

It was a big night for India at the Oscars. Besides &lsquo;RRR&rsquo;, &lsquo;The Elephant Whisperers&rsquo; won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. Shaunak Sen&rsquo;s &lsquo;All that Breathes&rsquo; was also nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category, but it lost out to &lsquo;Navalny&rsquo;.

While announcing the nominees, Keervani said, &lsquo;Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Cinematography can make or break a documentary. Unlike a feature film, where you can control the lighting, sound, and subjects, a documentary cinematographer is afforded none of these advantages.&rsquo;

Keeravani has been in the news for bagging the Golden Globe award for &lsquo;Naatu Naatu&rsquo; from SS Rajamouli&rsquo;s magnum opus &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; and also earning an Oscars nomination for the same song. The ace-composer took to social media to react to being honoured with the Padma Shri- the fourth highest civilian award of India.

He received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association&rsquo;s (LAFCA) best music score award for his work in the magnum opus, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The winners&rsquo; list was shared by the LAFCA on its official website on Sunday night. The other awards bagged by &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; include the Best International Film award at the Atlanta Film Critics Circle, and SS Rajamouli won the best director award at the New York Film Critics Circle.
On Monday, Golden Globes nominations were announced and &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; scored two nominations - Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for &lsquo;Naatu Naatu&rsquo;.
&lsquo;RRR&rsquo;, a pre-Indian independence era fiction, grossed over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide following its release on March 24.
