Late singer Lata Mangeshkar has featured in Rolling Stone's 200 Best Singers of All Time list at the 84th spot.
Speaking about Lata Mangeshkar, Rolling Stone wrote 'Rolling Stone, talking about Lata wrote, "The crystalline, eternally girlish voice of 'the Melody Queen' is a cornerstone of Indian pop music, with a global influence spread via Bollywood films, whose golden era she defined. Lata was the empress of playback singers, the vocal magicians who perform songs for actors to lip-sync in lavish movie musicals, recording over 7,000 such songs, by some estimates.'&nbsp;
The list also includes BTS' youngest singer Jungkook, Taylor Swift among others. However, singer Celine Dion has been excluded from it and her fans are expressing their displeasure on Twitter.
While commenting on the article, one user wrote 'Any &ldquo;greatest singers&rdquo; list that doesn&rsquo;t include Celine Dion is simply wrong' While some users also questioned the credibility of the article for excluding her from the list.

Also known as the 'Queen of Melody' and the 'Indian Nightingale', the singer died on February 6 from multiple organ failure syndrome. She was 92. Bappi Da, an Indian singer, composer, and record producer, passed away on February 15 in Mumbai at the age of 69 due to obstructive sleep apnea. The late singer got us all grooving to his hit disco numbers like &lsquo;Chalte Chalte&rsquo;, &lsquo;Disco Dancer&rsquo;, and &lsquo;Oh La La&rsquo; among others.

Iconic playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away on May 31 at the age of 53. He died of heart attack hours after a live music event at Nazrul Mancha auditorium in Kolkata. Some of his most memorable songs include, &lsquo;Yaaron dosti&rsquo; (Pal, 1999) and &lsquo;Tadap tadap ke&rsquo; (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999)
Raju Srivastav (25 December 1963 &ndash; 21 September 2022)
Raju Srivastav, one of the most famous comedians of the modern era, passed away on September 21 at AIIMS, Delhi. He was hospitalised for over a month after he collapsed following a cardiac arrest on August 10. He became a household name with the show Laughter Challenge and he was known popularly by his stage name Gajodhar Bhaiya.
Sidhu Moose Wala (11 June 1993 &ndash; 29 May 2022)
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was a musician, rapper, and songwriter. He was best known for his work in Punjabi music and cinema. He was considered as one of the biggest rising names in the pop industry. He was killed on May 29 in Jawaharke village in Mansa district.
Pandit Birju Maharaj (4 February 1938 &ndash; 16 January 2022)
Pandit Birju Maharaj, a celebrated Kathak dancer, composer and singer, died at the age of 83 at his home in Delhi on January 17 after suffering a heart attack. He was a recipient of the country's second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, and was fondly called Pandit-ji or Maharaj-ji by his disciples. Born as Krishnakumar Kunnath in New Delhi, he became immensely popular as KK. After working with renowned names like Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot and Lesle Lewis, KK slowly gained popularity as a singer. The milestone of his career was in the form of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', wherein he sang the soulful rendition of 'Tadap Tadap'. The gave the industry some smash hit tracks like 'Khuda Jaane' (from the film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'), 'Awarapan' (from the film 'Jism’), 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai' (from the film 'Gangster: A Love Story'), 'Tu Ashiqui Hai' (from the film 'Jhankaar Beats')… the list is endless.
Meanwhile, in his career spanning many years, KK lent his vocals to more than 3500 jingles and 11 different languages! He had even sung many hit pop songs like 'Pal', 'Yaaron', 'Din Ho Ya Raat', 'Humsafar' etc…

In her illustrious career spanning many decades, she has lent her vocals to many superhit songs (films, devotional and traditional). On 6 February 2022, the 'Nightingale' called Lata Mangeshkar passed away, leaving behind her work's unparalleled and incomparable legacy.
Sidhu Moose Wala

Born as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, he nicknamed himself as Sidhu Moose Wala. While his father is an ex-army man, his mother is a sarpanch in his village. After his graduation, Sidhu Moose Wala moved to Canada. Having a staggering 9.1 million followers on Instagram, this singer had many hit tracks to his credits including 'Goat', 'Issa Jatt', 'Dhakka', 'Bambiha Bole' and others. Unfortunately, on 29 May 2022, he was shot down by unidentified gunmen in his car.
Tarsame Singh Saini (Taz/ Johnny Zee)

He was one of the musicians responsible for making the 90's era as the 'musical era'. Born as Tarsame Singh Saini, he was mostly known by his nickname 'Taz'.
He was the lead singer of the popular band 'Stereo Nation'. Taz became a household name with his hit album 'Hit The Deck'. Post that, he went onto churn many superhit tracks. Besides pop songs like 'Nachenge Saari Raat', 'Carol', Taz had also sung for a few Bollywood films including 'Tum Bin', 'Koi Mill Gaya' and 'Batla House'.
Sadly, the 54-year-old Tarsame Singh Saini passed away on 29 April 2022 because of a reported liver failure.
Sandhya Mukherjee

This Kolkata resident lived in the hearts of millions through her songs. Considered a doyen of modern and semi-classical music in Bengali, her duets with the legendary singer Hemanta Mukherjee (Hemant Kumar) are absolutely priceless and have been treasured by her fans all over the globe. Sandhya had also sung many songs in Bollywood as well. These songs include 'Aa Gupchup Gupchup Pyar Karen', 'Mai To Prem Diwani', 'Ram Japu Ram Japu', 'Yeh Baat Koi Samjhaye Re', to name a few.
In lieu of her contribution to the world of music, she was nicknamed as 'Geetashree'. Sangeeta made headlines when she refused to accept the 'Padma Shri' award on January 24.
On 15 February 2022, the legendary singer Sandhya Mukherjee breathed her last.

Besides being a singer, he was also a musician, composer and even a politician. He can be rightfully credited for popularizing the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema.
Born in a family of musicians, Lahiri started his musical career with the Bengali film 'Daadu', where the late Lata Mangeshkar sang his first composition. Besides his unique vocals, Bappida was always known for his trademark usage of golden embellishments, chains, and also his sunglasses. Bappi da had also dabbled in politics in January 2014 when he contested the Lok Sabha elections, which he lost.
A few of the hit songs sung by him include 'Tamma Tamma Loge' (from the film  'Thanedaar'), 'Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re' (from the film 'Saaheb'), 'Jimmy Jimmy Ajaa Ajaa' (from the film 'Disco Dancer'), 'I Am A Disco Dancer' (from the film 'Disco Dancer') and many others.
On 15 February 2022, Bappi Lahiri passed away reportedly due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Tarsame Singh Saini, popularly known as Taz, the lead singer from pop band Stereo Nation, was a musical sensation in the 90s. He became a household name with his hit 1989 album 'Hit The Deck'. Post that, he went onto churn many superhit tracks. Besides pop songs like 'Nachenge Saari Raat', 'Carol', Taz had also sung for a few Bollywood films including 'Tum Bin', 'Koi Mill Gaya' and 'Batla House'. In a tribute to the late singer, Lata Mangeshkar Gujarat government has issued a letter written by the 'Nightingale of India' to PM Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi in 2019. The Bharat Ratna awardee wrote the letter congratulating Modi's mother on winning the elections for a second term. 
The letter reads:
"My respectful obeisances at your feet
"Many many congratulations to your son and my brother Shri Narendra Bhai Modi on becoming the Prime Minister again by the grace of Lord Shri Ram. My salutations to you and Shri Narendra Bhai's simple life."
Extending her greetings to PM Modi's brothers Prahladbhai and Pankajbhai, she wrote, "Many many best wishes to Shri Prahlad bhai, Shri Pankaj bhai and your entire family. I pray to God for safe health and long life."
Mangeshkar mentioned that she is sorry if in case she makes a mistake as she was writing a letter in Gujarati for the first time.
Ending the letter with Vande Mataram, she signed off as "Your daughter, Lata Mangeshkar."

Her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar lit the funeral pyre of the singing legend, who died at 92 in a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday morning after multi-organ failure.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and MNS chief Raj Thackeray were present as Lata Mangeshkar’s mortal remains were consigned to flames in presence of people from all walks of life.
Just before the last rites, the national tricolour in which the mortal remains were draped, was handed over to the family members.
The mortal remains of Lata Mangeshkar, draped in the national flag, were taken in a truck from her residence Prabhu Kunj in south Mumbai to Shivaji Park for the last rites.
