Kiran Rao&rsquo;s directorial, &lsquo;Laapataa Ladies&rsquo;, will be screened at the Supreme Court of India on August 9. Kiran and producer Aamir Khan will attend the screening and interact with the audience.
The Chief Justice of India and the judges along with their spouses will also be present.
The screening will take place from following court hours and will be followed by an interactive session with Khan and Rao.
The notice read, &lsquo;As part of the activities organised during the seventy-fifth year of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the movie 'Laapataa Ladies' which is based on the theme of gender equality, will be screened on Friday, 9 August 2024 in the Auditorium, C- Block, Administrative Building Complex. Ms. Kiran Rao, who has directed the movie, and Mr. Aamir Khan, Producer, will also be present during the screening.&rsquo;

Earlier, in an interview with news agency PTI, Kiran said that although most women have not experienced being under the veil, they could still relate to the film. She said, &lsquo;There's some sort of universality in a woman's experience across classes and a lot of that goes unacknowledged, unseen or unrepresented in cinema.&rsquo; Kiran further added, &lsquo;Hearing the response to the film, I realised that it's possible to change the status quo with very small interventions and reclaim some space for ourselves, even within the setup that we, maybe, cannot change. Numerous celebrities, such as Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Kajol, and Karan Johar graced the event. Also in attendance were Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan and her husband, Nupur Shikhare, along with Konkona Sensharma, Kabir Khan, Mini Mathur, Ali Fazal, and Sayani Gupta.
For the screening, Aamir sported a black kurta paired with a matching jacket and pants, while Kiran donned a mustard saree with a silver blouse.
Sunny Deol chose a black shirt beneath a dark grey jacket, paired with trousers. Salman Khan opted for a black T-shirt layered under a shirt and denim jeans. Kajol rocked a green ensemble accessorized with a black belt, heels, and sunglasses.
