A Gurugram couple has been arrested for allegedly torturing their 14-year-old domestic help.
Police said the teen girl suffered horrific abuse by the employers over the last few months. According to media reports, the girl was allegedly beaten with hot tongs and sticks while also starved by the couple for not working properly.
Officials said the Jharkhand teen had wounds all over her body, and her medical examination is being done to ascertain if she was sexually harassed.
The couple had hired the girl last year to look after their 3.5-year-old daughter, and reports of her abuse came to the fore after pictures of her bruises went viral on social media. An NGO lodged a complaint against the couple based on the photos.
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who identifies herself as an activist on her Twitter bio in a post on February 7 shared victim's photos with injuries claiming that the 14-year-old was being brutally tortured by her employers.&nbsp;
The couple has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO Act.

As many as 288 party attendees were made to give blood samples on suspicion of consumption of illegal drugs at a club in Gurugram.

It recovered narcotics including heroin, cocaine, charas, marijuana and MDMA from the club premises. ACP Manoj Kumar said no arrest has been made so far as nothing was recovered rom anyone's personal possession but their blood samples have sent to the lab on suspicion of consumption.
He added that further action will be taken on the basis of test results.
An FIR has been lodged against three owners and three managers of Casa Danza club under several sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The incident of road rage happened at MDI chowk on Wednesday morning, they said.
The woman, in her complaint, said that the accused stopped his car in front of her vehicle after overtaking near MDI chowk, pulled her out of it and slapped her multiple times.
&ldquo;He also threatened to kill me and said that he will come to my home and beat me again.&rdquo; the victim, works with a financial services company, said in her complaint.
The man fled from the spot after people started gathering, the woman said, adding that she sustained injuries on her left eye and nose and was moved to a hospital.
An FIR was registered against the unknown man under sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code at sector 18 police station on Wednesday night, police said.
Efforts are on to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage, SHO inspector Haresh Kumar said.&nbsp;

In a head-on collision between a police vehicle and a passenger car in Haryana's Gurugram, a six-month-old child died on 15 January 2023.
The police emergency vehicle was allegedly being driven on the wrong side of the road. Witnesses said that cops and the driver of the police vehicle fled after the accident.
The crash took place on Gurugram-Faridabad road around 11 am. Apart from the 6-month-old victim, at least 5 persons were injured.
Vishwajit Maan, the father of the deceased girl, said that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the ERV driver who was coming from the wrong direction. Mann works in the education department of the Delhi government.
An FIR has been registered against the ERV driver, police said.

"Action will be taken against those who disobey the orders under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code," the district administration said in a statement.

Following a complaint by a househelp who was severly wounded by a dog in August this year, Gurugram's district consumer disputes redressal forum has banned at least 11 foreign dog breeds in the city.&nbsp;
Effective from November 15, the order bars 11 breeds namely - American Pit-bull Terries, Dogo Argentino, Rottweiller, Neapolitan Mastiff, Boerboel, Presa Canario, Wolf Dog, Bandog, American Bulldog, Fila Brasileiro and Cane Corso.
Gurugram's civic body has been ordered to cancel registrations of all such dogs and take them into their custody
After the order passed by the forum, it will now be mandatory for all pet dogs to wear a collar with a metal chain and token. A family will be allowed to keep only one dog.&nbsp;
It further directed the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to mandatorily register dogs within a month and issue licenses at Rs 12,000 per year. The licences have to be renewed every year.
For violators, the forum said, a fine would range from a minimum of Rs 20,000 to Rs 2 lakhs and their dog will be taken into custody by the corporation.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Gurguram civic body said it's analysing the forum's directions.

In a peculiar incident, a Gurugram couple got their pet dog married to a neighbourhood canine by following similar rituals of a traditional Indian wedding. Sheru (male dog) and Sweety (female dog) took the 'Pheras' today.
According to the pet owners, for the marriage, 100 invitation cards were sent to a neighbourhood of Jile Singh Colony in Palam Vihar Extension, as they attended the marriage ceremony as 'Baraatis'.
Talking to ANI, Savita alias Rani, guardian of a female dog named Sweety said, "I m a pet lover and as a couple, we used to take care of pets. I don't have a child so Sweety is our kid. My husband used to go to the temple and feed animals and one day a stray dog followed him and came to us 3 years back. We named her Sweety. everyone used to say that we should get Sweety married. We discussed it and then eventually a programme was made in just 4 days. We decided to follow all rituals." Savita did mention that ceremonies like Haldi were also done for both the dogs, while she was displaying her Mehendi.
Manita, owner of male dog Sheru said," We have been together with Sheru for the last eight years. We have always treated him like our child. we discussed with our neighbours about the marriage of our dogs casually but then we suddenly got serious about it."
Manita asserted that the owners of the dogs are taking this marriage seriously and prepared for it just like customary marriages and followed all the rituals. "We invited around 100 people. We printed 25 cards and the rest was an online invitation," Manita added. When asked how other people reacted to the invitation, Manita said, "Some people like it and some people don't. We are not concerned at all. We just followed what we desired."
On similar lines, Savita mentioned, "People used to say that police will pick us and put us in Jail but we are not bothered. Since we are a childless couple and this is our only happiness so today my husband is happy as we are getting Sweety married." Raja, a tea seller, and owner of Sweety was emotional during the ceremony and narrated the whole incident," I used to visit the temple and since we don't have a child then we used to take care of the pets.
Sweety has been part of our lives for the last three years and she is like my daughter. For preparation, we have bought the utensils and sarees which we do for usual wedding preparation. I will feel bad as a father because for three years I have nurtured her as a guardian."
The marriage ceremony was accompanied by 'dhols' and people danced with full enthusiasm for the canine wedding.&nbsp;

 A call about a bomb threat sparked panic at a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday and a search is on to trace it, police said.
The call was received at Leela Hotel in the Ambiance Mall complex around 11:35 am. The police were immediately informed following which bomb disposal and dog squads reached the hotel and evacuated it, sources said. A senior police officer said that the threat call to the hotel was made from a mobile number which was found switched off.
"The search is on and the police are trying to identify the caller," the official added.

A 24-year-old mentally challenged man had the city police on their toes for more than an hour after he made a hoax call about a bomb in The Leela Hotel Tuesday morning.
The caller was found to be a man with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) admitted in a hospital in Sector 47, police said.
The call sent the police in an over one-and-half-an-hour-long tizzy, during which they searched for the bomb at the hotel, in the end declaring the call a hoax.
&ldquo;Nothing suspicious was found in the hotel premises and the call was a hoax made by a mentally challenged man.
"An FIR is being registered against the caller and further action will be taken as per the law,&rdquo; said Virender Vij, DCP, east.
A call about a bomb on Tuesday sent people in panic at The Leela Hotel and police scampering to trace it.
The call was received at The Leela Hotel located in the Ambiance Mall complex around 11.35 am.
The hotel immediately informed the police, which dispatched bomb disposal and dog squads and evacuated the hotel, sources said.
A senior police officer said that mobile which was used to make the call was found switched off when they tried to callback.
They traced the mobile&rsquo;s location in a hospital in Sector 47, belonging to a mental patient who is undergoing treatment.
&ldquo;He was found to be autistic and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram,&rdquo; read the official statement of Gurugram police.&nbsp;

Khatana was rushed to hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. His son reportedly accused one of his relatives and his companions for the murder.
Khatana was close to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and was preparing to contest Zila Parishad elections from Sohna, according to sources quoted by news agency PTI.

The man, who was identified as Varun Nath (39), a businessman, allegedly also threatened to kill the guard, Ashok Kumar, and the lift operator, they said.
A purported video of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, as soon as the lift operator opens the elevator doors, Nath steps out, drops his bag on the floor and starts slapping Kumar, who appears to be trying to reason with him. Every time Nath slapped Kumar, he took a few steps back.
Nath then goes to the lift operator and slaps him before walking back aggressively towards Kumar.
Later, security guards of the society assembled at its gate and started a protest. After receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 50 police station, reached the spot, the police said.
Kumar lodged a complaint in the matter, they said.
According to the complaint, Nath got trapped inside an elevator in Tower 12 around 7:20 am and informed Kumar through the intercom. After coming out of the lift, the accused started abusing him and slapped him multiple times, the police said.
He also slapped the lift operator and threatened to kill him and Kumar, they said.
"We registered a case soon after receiving a complaint in the matter. The accused has been arrested and is being questioned," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Virender Vij.
Nath has been booked under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This incident comes a week after a 32-year-old woman was arrested in Noida for allegedly manhandling a private security guard, hurling expletives at him and making derogatory remarks against a particular community outside a group housing society, after a video of the incident was circulated on social media.

According to the complaint, Nath got trapped inside an elevator in Tower 12 around 7:20 am and informed Kumar through the intercom. After coming out of the lift, the accused started abusing him and slapped him multiple times, the police said.
He also slapped the lift operator and threatened to kill him and Kumar, they said.
"We registered a case soon after receiving a complaint in the matter. The accused has been arrested and is being questioned," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Virender Vij.
Nath has been booked under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Bouncers at a Gurugram pub allegedly beat up a group of visitors after one of them accused a doorman of touching his female friend inappropriately, police said on Wednesday.
Ten, including managers and bouncers of the Udyog Vihar-based club, have been booked in connection with the incident that took place around 2 am on Monday, they said.
One of those assaulted, a manager with a multinational technology company, filed a complaint stating that he had gone to the Casa Denza club with his three friends. He found some other friends at the gate of the club.
He alleged that a bouncer misbehaved with his friend and touched her inappropriately while she was standing in the entry line. He said when she objected, other bouncers and managers gathered there and started abusing her.
"As we all protested, eight bouncers took us to the road, pushing us from the gate and thrashed us. We were injured in the attack. The managers of the club also threatened to kill us if we visited the club again," the complainant alleged.
In the meantime, a passerby made a video of the attack which went viral on social media and after getting information a police team reached the spot who rushed the injured to hospital.
The complainant also alleged that the bouncers snatched a smartwatch and around Rs 12,000 cash. He also submitted the viral video clip with his complaint to police.
Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered against 10 including bouncers and managers of the club under sections 147 (riot), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 354-A (molestation), 379-A (snatching), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at Udyog Vihar police station.
"We are scanning the CCTV footage of the club and nearby area to identify the accused. They will be nabbed as early as possible," said inspector Anil Kumar, SHO of Udyog Vihar police station.
The club owner and managers could not be contacted for a response despite several attempts.

The incident occurred around 2:40 am and they were attacked with sharp weapons. The deceased are Bhupendra, Pushpendra and Naresh, all natives of Uttar Pradesh, they said.
Police said a search has been launched to apprehend the miscreants.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and CCTV camera footage is being examined, they said.
Police suspect robbery to be the motive behind the crime. However, other angles are also being investigated. An FIR is yet to be registered in the matter.
Two bodies were found in the room of the pump's manager, while the third was found outside.
"I woke up to a phone call in the wee hours. I reached the CNG pump and found my brother, Bhupendra, dead. My brother was a pump operator here", Dharmendra told PTI.
He added that it is not clear who killed his brother.
A forensic lab team and a dog squad are also at the spot along with police personnel. Commissioner of Police Kala Ramachandran also visited the site of incident.
