Gardening helps in improvement of both physical and mental health, according to a new study.

Besides a healthy lifestyle, physical activities and socialising, gardening also has a huge impact on our health.
A study recently published in the journal Lancet Planetary Health found that community gardening helps in improvement of both physical and mental health.
For the study, the team recruited 291 non-gardening adults aged 41 years. Half of them were assigned gardening jobs while the others were asked to wait.
Nutritional intake and mental health of both groups were monitored and it was found that the gardening group consumed more fibre as a result of gardening and had improved gut health. They also had their stress and anxiety levels decreased.
Study authors concluded that people should be encouraged to participate in gardening and activities closer to nature for a healthier life.

Social media influencer and video creator, Armen Adamjan shared a video on Instagram stating that if you put a bunch of matchsticks in water and let them soak for about an hour, the water will turn pink because of phosphorus and sulphur present in the matchsticks. This is basically food for plants. Phosphorus helps plants grow strong roots and sulphur helps produce healthy leaves. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Benefits of Gardening : According to a new study, gardening can help boost mental health.

Gardening for Mental health : According to a study published in the journal PLOS ONE, researchers from the University of Florida have found that gardening can help <a href="https://www.editorji.com/lifestyle-news/health/follow-these-tips-to-stay-optimistic-and-boost-your-mental-health-1652162906202" target="_blank">boost mental health</a>.
The study found that working with plants twice a week helps to relax and reduce anxiety, stress and depression among healthy women.
None of the participants were involved in gardening before the study which focused women who do not have any pre-existing physical or mental illness.
The research was conducted on thirty-two women aged between 26 and 49. Half of them were assigned to do gardening and the other half were asked to take art-making sessions. Both of the groups met twice in a week for 4 weeks.
The researchers found that both, the gardening and art-making groups, experienced similar improvements in their <a href="https://www.editorji.com/lifestyle-news/health/4-mental-health-tips-for-young-adults-1655378318012" target="_blank">mental health</a>. However, the gardener group showed less anxiety in comparison to the art makers group.
