For the study, the team included 120 nurses who were divided into three groups based on oil scents: rose, lavender and other nonscented oils like sesame.&nbsp;
Researchers concluded that scented oils reduce sympathetic stimulations that in turn, lower stress. They also noted that rose scent has a positive effect on the nurses&rsquo; job stress as compared to other scents.&nbsp;

Comfort food, emotional food or whatever you want to call it, could be harming your heart more than the calories, according to a new study. &nbsp; The study was published in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology and it found that food consumed due to any emotional reason be it anger or sadness might trigger heart issues.&nbsp;
The research team from the University Hospital of Nancy, France studied 1,109 participants over a period of 13 years on the basis of their emotional eating habits.&nbsp;
The study found that emotional eating causes arteries to get stiffer which is generally the major reason behind heart attacks and strokes. It also added that while stress raises the risk of heart issues by 32%, emotional eating increases it by 38%.&nbsp;

According to a recent study published in Science Advances, the hearts of men and women react differently to the stress hormone noradrenaline. In the research done on rats, it was seen what effect heart failure and drugs can have on different genders.&nbsp;
The team created a new type of fluorescence imaging system that allowed them to use light to see how the rats&rsquo; hearts responded to hormones and neurotransmitters in real time. The rats were exposed to noradrenaline, also known as norepinephrine.&nbsp;
The results revealed that after exposure to noradrenaline, the hearts of male and female rats first reacted similarly. However, some regions of the female heart normalised more quickly than those of the male heart, which creates differences in the heart's electrical activity.&nbsp;

Gardening helps in improvement of both physical and mental health, according to a new study.

Besides a healthy lifestyle, physical activities and socialising, gardening also has a huge impact on our health.
A study recently published in the journal Lancet Planetary Health found that community gardening helps in improvement of both physical and mental health.
For the study, the team recruited 291 non-gardening adults aged 41 years. Half of them were assigned gardening jobs while the others were asked to wait.
Nutritional intake and mental health of both groups were monitored and it was found that the gardening group consumed more fibre as a result of gardening and had improved gut health. They also had their stress and anxiety levels decreased.
Study authors concluded that people should be encouraged to participate in gardening and activities closer to nature for a healthier life.

A recent survey revealed that 3 out of 4 Indians suffer from a deficiency of Vitamin D. The research was conducted by Tata 1Mg pharmacy on about 2.2 lakh people in 27 Indian cities.
During the survey, it was noted that 84 per cent of youth suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. Besides this, the deficiency was more prevalent in men below the age of 25 as compared to elderly people and women.
Among the 27 cities studied, Vadodara (89%) and Surat (88%) had the highest vitamin D-deficient population. Looking at the&nbsp; survey data, experts say that the cases of vitamin D deficiency are increasing due to changing eating habits, less exposure to sunlight and indoor lifestyle.
