 Study claims gardening can help you boost your mental health

Gardening for Mental health : According to a study published in the journal PLOS ONE, researchers from the University of Florida have found that gardening can help boost mental health.

The study found that working with plants twice a week helps to relax and reduce anxiety, stress and depression among healthy women.

None of the participants were involved in gardening before the study which focused women who do not have any pre-existing physical or mental illness.

The research was conducted on thirty-two women aged between 26 and 49. Half of them were assigned to do gardening and the other half were asked to take art-making sessions. Both of the groups met twice in a week for 4 weeks.

The researchers found that both, the gardening and art-making groups, experienced similar improvements in their mental health. However, the gardener group showed less anxiety in comparison to the art makers group.
