Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik is at it again. Malik, who has been attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government at the Centre over the farmers' issues, on Sunday again took a swipe at his own party.
The outspoken governor alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “arrogant” when he met him to discuss the farmer protests and that he ended up having an argument with him.
"When I went to meet the Prime Minister to discuss the farmer issue, I ended up fighting with him within five minutes. He was very arrogant. When I told him that 500 of our own (farmers) had died… he said, ‘Did they die for me?’ I told him yes, since you are the king. I ended up having an argument with him. He told me to meet Amit Shah and I did),” he said while addressing a social function at Dadri in Haryana.
Malik added that the Centre will have to work with honesty to withdraw cases registered against farmers during the agri laws protest and give a legal framework to MSP for crops.
He warned the Centre that the farmers' agitation has only been suspended, and if there is any injustice, it will start again.
Malik has attacked the Union government multiple times in the recent past over the farm laws. In November, speaking in Jaipur, he had said the Centre will have to eventually concede to the farmers’ demands.

Twenty-two farm organisations in Punjab that were part of the protest against three central farm laws formed a political front on Saturday and announced they would contest the upcoming state assembly polls to bring about a "political change".
These 22 farm bodies were among 32 farmer organisations in Punjab which participated in the over-a-year-long protest against the three central farm laws.
However, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), which had led the farmers' stir against the laws, clarified that it is not contesting the assembly elections.
Balbir Singh Rajewal of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) will be the leader of the Samyukt Samaj Morcha. 
Asked if the 'morcha' will enter into an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party, which is the main opposition party in Punjab, Rajewal said no decision has yet been taken.

There is delicious looking 'langar' from 'dal' to 'gulaab jamun' who are now headed home after ending their agitation against the 3 farm laws. 
But this 'langar' is not a one-day affair. Restaurant owner Ram Singh Rana has been serving food to the protesting farmers for over a year and now that that they are returning home, he is elated for what he now calls his 'family'
'My happiness knows no bounds. I will keep serving langar till the last farmer leaves. They are like my family now and I will stand with them till I die', Rana said.
Rana was also allegedly harassed by local Haryana officials. They reportedly put boulders in front of his house in June this year to block the entrance to the dhaba. He then received support from farmers unions and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Wednesday said that a consensus has been reached over a revised draft proposal of the Centre on their pending demands and it will now meet on Thursday to decide the future course of the movement, even as its leaders demanded a formal communication on government letterhead.
Sources in the farmers' umbrella body indicated that once unions receive a formal communication from the government on the agreed fresh draft proposal, the farmers' agitation, which had started at the three Delhi border points - Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri - on November 26 last year, will be ended soon.
Farmer leader and SKM core committee member Gurnam Singh Chaduni said that the earlier draft from the central government on pending demands was not acceptable to them following which a fresh proposal was received from the Centre on Wednesday.
According to the SKM sources, the fresh proposal sent clarified that the government will include SKM members in the committee on MSP and that governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana have agreed to withdraw cases against farmers with immediate effect. Cases registered against farmers in Delhi will also be withdrawn.
"Consensus has reached on government's fresh proposal. Now, a formal communication signed on the government's letterhead is awaited. SKM will meet again tomorrow at 12 noon, at Singhu Border, to take a formal decision thereafter to lift the morchas,” the SKM said in a statement after a meeting of its core committee.
At a press conference, Chaduni said no decision has been taken yet on calling off agitation and they will decide about suspending the agitation after the meeting tomorrow.
"We are in agreement with the government regarding our demands," he said.
The SKM had formed a five-member panel for a dialogue with the Centre regarding pending demands of farmers including legal guarantee on MSP, withdrawal of cases against farmers registered during the movement and compensation to kins of farmers who died during the agitation.

Addressing a 'kisan mahapanchayat' or a large gathering of farmers, Tikait said that it was the govt that had pushed the paused button on talks and not the farmers.

Digging in their heels, farmer unions said on Sunday they will continue their agitation till the government starts talks with them on their six demands.
Farmers' demands include a law guaranteeing MSP and the arrest of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, whose son has been accused of running over farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri.
The agitation spearhead, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), also said the farmers would go ahead with their planned protests, including a mahapanchayat in Lucknow on Monday to press for a law on Minimum Support Price (MSP). The farmers also plan to go ahead with their march to Parliament on November 29 to observe one year of anti-farm law protests.
The umbrella body of agitating farm unions took the decision at its first meeting after Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Friday announced that the three farm laws will be repealed.
The Union Cabinet is likely to take up for approval on Wednesday the bills for rescinding the three farm laws so that they are introduced in the forthcoming winter session.
In an open letter to Prime Minister Modi, the SKM thanked him for the repeal of the three farm laws, but noted that "after 11 rounds of talks, you chose the path of unilateral declaration rather than a bilateral solution".

In an open letter to Prime Minister Modi, the SKM thanked him for the repeal of the three farm laws, but noted that "after 11 rounds of talks, you chose the path of unilateral declaration rather than a bilateral solution".
Farmers' demands also include the withdrawal of cases against protesting farmers and the building of a memorial for those who lost their lives during the agitation.

The agitation spearhead, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), also said the farmers would go ahead with their planned protests, including a mahapanchayat in Lucknow on Monday to press for a law on<a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/budget/budget-2022-rs-2-3-lakh-crore-to-be-directly-paid-as-msp-to-farmers-1643697465767" target="_blank"> Minimum Support Price (MSP)</a>. The Union Cabinet is likely to take up for approval on Wednesday the bills for rescinding the three farm laws so that they are introduced in the forthcoming winter session.

"Our issues besides farm laws, especially MSP, withdrawal of cases against us, rollback of Power Bill 2020 & Air Quality Ordinance, and allotment of a location for a memorial for our friends who died are pending. We hope Govt calls a meeting to resolve the issues," farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh told the reporters.
