A couple in Bareilly has been arrested for allegedly murdering a husband and staging it as suicide. Initially seen as suicide, autopsy pointed to strangulation. Rekha confessed to poisoning. Investigation continues.

A 25-year-old woman and her partner were arrested for allegedly poisoning and strangulating her husband with a rope that was then used to hang the body to make it look like suicide, police here said Friday.
According to officials, the incident occurred on April 13 when Kehr Singh's body was found hanging in a rented room with the door locked from inside.
Initially, it was suspected to be a case of suicide. However, the post-mortem report said he died due to strangulation, they said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said, "The post-mortem report clearly indicates death by strangulation, though the closed room suggested a suicide. We are investigating all possible angles and have taken both named accused -- Rekha and her lover Pintu (25) -- into custody." The couple was sent to jail after a medical examination on Friday.
Singh was working as a sanitation worker posted on contract with the Fatehganj Paschimi Nagar Panchayat in Bareilly.
Mishra said, "Suspecting poisoning, we have also preserved the victim's viscera for forensic testing. During questioning, Rekha initially avoided direct answers but later confessed to mixing poison in her husband's food. However, she denied strangling him or hanging the body, claiming her husband might have locked the room and taken his own life." Police said they are awaiting the viscera report to confirm the poisoning.
Meanwhile, a case of murder has been registered against Rekha and Pintu at the Fatehganj Paschimi police station based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother, Ashok.
In his complaint, Ashok alleged that his brother had learned about his wife's affair with Pintu. Following this, they conspired to kill his brother.
"They first gave him poison. When he became unconscious, they strangled him with a rope and then used the same rope to hang his body from the ceiling to make it look like suicide," the FIR stated.
The investigation is ongoing, and further action will depend on the forensic findings and statement corroboration, police said.

Ananya shared the post with a caption that read, "Yesterday hurt. Today, Utkarsh and I went back to the court that denied our rights and exchanged rings. So this week wasn't about a legal loss, but our engagement. We'll return to fight another day."

Officials said the Jharkhand teen had wounds all over her body, and her medical examination is being done to ascertain if she was sexually harassed.
The couple had hired the girl last year to look after their 3.5-year-old daughter, and reports of her abuse came to the fore after pictures of her bruises went viral on social media. An NGO lodged a complaint against the couple based on the photos.
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who identifies herself as an activist on her Twitter bio in a post on February 7 shared victim's photos with injuries claiming that the 14-year-old was being brutally tortured by her employers.&nbsp;
The couple has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO Act.

A shocking case has been reported at West Delhi's Rajouri Garden where a housemaid was allegedly assaulted by the couple on Sunday. According to the police the 48-year-old woman laboured as a house help and was beaten up by the accused couple who have chopped her hair as well, Police recorded the victim's statement.

He immediately rushed to the Safdarjung hospital where Rajni claims on Sunday the couple dragged her out of her room and chopped off her hair. She had injuries all over her body, he added. Police said the medical examination report of Safdarjung Hospital asserted that she had suffered from “physical assault”, “head trauma, and was “vomiting”. She also had injuries on her eyes, face, limbs, abdomen along with other body parts.Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ghanshyam Bansal said that all efforts are being made to arrest the accused couple.
