Queer couple who petitioned for same-sex marriage rights are now engaged

The Supreme Court on October 17 refused the rights of same-sex couples to enter into marriages or have civil unions leaving members of the LGBTQIA+ community disappointed.

However, one of the couples who petitioned for same-sex marriage rights decided to take their relationship forward despite the setback.

Utkarsh Saxena, a lawyer, and Ananya Kotia, an economist, shared a picture of them getting engaged in front of the Supreme Court on October 18.

Ananya shared the post with a caption that read, "Yesterday hurt. Today, Utkarsh and I went back to the court that denied our rights and exchanged rings. So this week wasn't about a legal loss, but our engagement. We'll return to fight another day."

As social media users came across this post, they started congratulating them.
