Tecno Phantom V Flip First Impression: Budget foldable phone; Know price, specs, pros and cons

Tecno's Phantom V Flip, a budget-friendly foldable at Rs 49,999 in India, offers unique features like a circular cover screen and sturdy hinge. It packs a 6.9-inch AMOLED display, robust specs, a 4,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

Foldable phones have always had that "wow" factor, but their price tags can often make you think twice. However, Tecno is changing the game with its Phantom V series, making this premium technology more accessible.

We recently had the opportunity to get hands-on with the company's latest offering, and here's our Tecno Phantom V Flip first impression.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Price

The V Flip, is sure to catch your attention, because this is currently the only budget foldable phone in the Indian market. The Tecno Phantom V Flip price in India is set at Rs 49,999, and offers an affordable alternative to other foldable phones on the market.

To put it in perspective, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is listed at Rs 89,999 , while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes in at a whopping Rs 99,999 in India.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Sale Date

Customers will have the opportunity to purchase the smartphone online through Amazon.in beginning October 1. Additionally, Tecno is providing a 12-month no-cost EMI offer on this foldable device, allowing customers to enjoy more flexible payment options.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Cover Screen

Tecno's debut into the flip phone market is marked by a distinct feature - a 1.32-inch circular cover screen. It's unconventional, perhaps even a bit quirky, but that's precisely what makes it intriguing.

While it may not match the functionality of its counterparts from Oppo and Samsung, it gets the essentials right. The cover screen offers notifications, quick settings, and a handful of widgets like alarms and calendars, along with a convenient viewfinder for taking selfies.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Design and Hinge

Moving on to the hinge, it feels sturdy and reliable, although not as robust as Samsung's offering. It's designed to endure more than 200,000 folds and even allows the device to fold halfway, effectively transforming it into its own tripod for capturing photos or enjoying videos on a flat surface.

On a side note. this vegan leather back, feels really premium. The Tecno Phantom V Flip colour options include Mystic Dawn and Iconic Black.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Display (Inner)

Coming over the inner screen, it's a 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, capable of reaching up to 1,000 nits of brightness and supporting a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It offers vivid visuals, although visibility under direct sunlight could be improved. Moreover, the crease on this display is minimal and even less noticeable than the one on the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Tecno Phantom V Flip Specifications

Under the hood, the Tecno Phantom V Flip comes equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset, ensuring smooth performance during my brief testing. It also offers ample multitasking and storage capabilities with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Additionally, the device features a 4,000mAh battery with impressive 45W fast charging support, surpassing Samsung's 3,700 mAh battery and 25W charging. As for software, it runs on HiOS, based on Android 13.

Tecno Phantom V Flip First Impression

At Rs 49,999 , the Tecno Phantom V Flip comes at a price that's hard to beat, and while it doesn't get all the bell and whistles you find on Samsung's and Oppo's offeings, its still get a lot right on its first try.

We shall save our Tecno Phantom V Flip pros and cons for the full review , but our initial experience is very positive.
