Report: Google Pixel 7 series does not support the latest 5G standards

In India, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro received the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 update, which added 5G support. However, according to a recent report by 9to5 Google, these phones are only compatible with the first 3GPP 5G standard, Release 15, which was introduced in 2018, and not with the latest standards, including Release 16 by Qualcomm, which was released in 2021.

The Pixel 7 series uses Samsung's Exynos 5300 modem, which currently only supports Release 15. However, Samsung has stated that it can support Release 16, and the Pixel 7 series may receive an update to this standard later this year. Release 16 is better than Release 15 in terms of coverage, capacity, latency, power, mobility, and reliability.
