Report: Google develops dashcam feature for Pixel phones and select Android devices

A 9to5Google report suggests that Google is developing a feature that will turn smartphones into dashcams, allowing them to record footage while driving. The feature is said to be available on Pixel phones and select Android devices, including the Nothing Phone (1). The feature was accidentally released through the Personal Safety app. Users can access it through a shortcut on the home page and start recording manually or review previous videos. The dashcam function will not disrupt other phone activities, such as using Google Maps, and can even operate when the phone is locked to conserve power. Users can set the feature to automatically start recording when the phone connects to a specific Bluetooth device in the car. Recorded footage will be deleted after three days unless manually saved. While specific details about the hardware implementation remain unknown, Google has not officially announced this feature.
