A tipster on Weibo has claimed that Oppo is all set to launch its first foldable phone, codenamed ‘Peacock’, next month.

There have been rumours about Oppo working on a foldable phone for quite some time. Now, a tipster on Chinese social media network Weibo has claimed that Oppo is all set to launch its first foldable phone, codenamed ‘Peacock’, next month.

The same post also contains speculation about an upcoming flagship, codenamed ‘Butterfly’.

Oppo ‘Peacock’ foldable phone specs

The Oppo foldable phone, codenamed ‘Peacock’, is said to come with a Snapdragon 888 processor. It could feature an inward-folding design, much like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, with an 8-inch LTPO AMOLED display on the inside, which would support variable refresh rates up to 120Hz. It would come with the ColorOS 12 operating system, based on Android 12.

The details of the Oppo foldable phone’s rear camera system are not yet known, but it could feature a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor for the main camera. It is also expected to sport a 32MP front camera.

Earlier leaks have indicated that the device could feature a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.

Oppo ‘Peacock’ foldable phone availability

No concrete details about the pricing or availability of the Oppo ‘Peacock’ foldable phone are available yet. The post speculates that the device could launch in the middle of December 2021.

Oppo ‘Butterfly’ flagship specs

The Weibo post also contains speculation about an upcoming flagship Oppo is working on, codenamed ‘Butterfly’. This phone could be in the upcoming Find X4 series, and is expected to feature the unannounced Snapdragon 898 chipset.
