Google Play Store rolls out update for simultaneous app downloads with limitations, Details here!

Google Play Store has just rolled out a new update that finally allows multiple apps to be downloaded simultaneously. Though the number of apps that can be downloaded at the same time is now limited, the new update is a positive quality of life improvement.

Google Play Store rolls out update for simultaneous app downloads with limitations, Details here!

The Google Play Store has recently rolled out a new update, allowing users to download apps simultaneously. This development signifies a new quality of life update to Play Store, following its recent integration of AI-generated FAQs for app listings.

Simultaneous App Downloads Update Explained

Android users can now experience improved Android app download speed as they are able to download multiple apps at once. Previously restricted to downloading a single app at a time, the Play Store now supports two apps downloading concurrently.

This feature is part of the Play Store download queue management enhancements and is initially available on devices like Pixel smartphones running version 40.6.31 of the Play Store.

New Update Current Limitations and Expected Future Changes

Despite the advancement, the current Android download limit allows only two simultaneous app downloads. Additional apps will remain in the queue, labeled as "Pending" until one of the initial downloads completes.

This setup is a departure from initial reports which suggested the possibility of up to five apps. It is anticipated that future updates may increase this limit.

Download Update and Installation Process

The new feature applies strictly to new app installations, with download update processes for existing apps still requiring sequential updates. Users familiar with the iOS system will note that this functionality slightly lags behind, as iOS currently supports three concurrent downloads.

How to Download Multiple Apps on Google Play Store?

To test this new capability, users should attempt to download multiple apps, particularly larger ones, to observe the simultaneous download functionality. Settings may need to be adjusted to ensure new apps are displayed on the home screen, which can be configured depending on devices under the Home settings.

Simultaneous app downloads are a significant stride towards optimizing user efficiency and improving the overall functionality of the Google Play Store.

Google has reportedly been working on this feature since 2019, with simultaneous app downloads finally included after five years of being in the pipeline. However, though currently limited, the potential for expansion could further streamline the app management experience for Android users.
