Google Pixel 8a launched: Check price in India, specs

Google has officially launched the Pixel 8a, the successor to the Pixel 7a from last year.

The new phone brings a refreshed design, a more powerful processor, and improved AI capabilities.

Pixel 8a price in India

The Google Pixel 8a is now available for pre-order in India. The 128GB variant is priced at ₹52,999, while the 256GB option is priced at a rather steep ₹59,999.

Sales will begin on May 14 via Flipkart.

Pixel 8a specs

The Pixel 8a boasts a redesigned look that aligns it more closely with the flagship Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

It retains the familiar 6.1-inch size but upgrades the display panel to a Super Actua OLED with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance.

The Pixel 8a receives a decent performance boost thanks to Google's latest Tensor G3 chip. This new chipset promises faster processing speeds and improved efficiency compared to the Tensor G2 found in the 7a.

Additionally, the Tensor G3 unlocks new AI features previously reserved for the higher-end Pixel models.

This includes capabilities like Magic Eraser for removing unwanted objects from photos and enhanced image editing tools powered by Google's machine learning algorithms.

The Pixel 8a comes in two storage configurations: 128GB and 256GB. Both variants offer 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM.

While the camera system itself retains the same setup as the 7a, with a 64MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens, the Pixel 8a leverages the Tensor G3 chip to unlock its full potential.

Users can expect improved image processing and AI-powered features to enhance their photography experience.

The 8a packs a 4,492mAh battery. It supports 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging.

Long software support

Google maintains its commitment to long-term software support with the Pixel 8a. The phone comes pre-installed with Android 14 and is guaranteed to receive updates for the next seven years.

This includes quarterly Pixel Feature Drops that introduce new features and functionalities throughout its lifespan.
