Apple to release iOS 17.3, iPad OS 17.3 very soon: Check new features, eligible devices

Apple has officially confirmed the imminent release of iOS 17.3 and iPad OS 17.3 to the general public, tentatively scheduled for next week, specifically on 22 or 23 January 2024.

Users can anticipate receiving a notification about the new software update on their iPhone and iPad devices between 21 and 27 January, 2024.

iOS 17.3, iPad OS 17.3 Eligible Devices

The eligible devices for iOS 17.3 include iPhone Xs and later.

iPadOS 17.3 will be available for the iPad (6th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation and later), 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and 11-inch iPad Pro (1st generation and later).

iOS 17.3 New Features

The upcoming update brings a host of exciting features for Apple users.

iOS 17.3 introduces three major new elements. The first is the highly-anticipated Stolen Device Protection, a comprehensive security measure designed to prevent unauthorized access in the event of a stolen iPhone.

This feature requires Face ID or Touch ID authentication to perform specific actions, making it extremely difficult for unauthorized users to tamper with the device.

Additionally, Stolen Device Protection unveils the Security Delay function, which necessitates biometric authentication after one hour of any changes to the passcode or Apple ID.

Furthermore, Collaborative Playlists in Apple Music is set to revolutionize the music-sharing experience, allowing users to collaboratively add, remove, and order songs within a playlist.

Moreover, users can react to songs with animated emojis, enhancing the social and interactive nature of music sharing.

Notably, in celebration of Black History Month, iOS 17.3 showcases Unity Bloom wallpapers, featuring vibrant color displays upon activation.

iPadOS 17.3 Enhancements

iPadOS 17.3 is set to include Collaborative Playlists and Unity Bloom Wallpapers, aligning with the features of iOS 17.3. However, it remains uncertain if iPadOS 17.3 will feature the Stolen Device Protection functionality.
