iPhone 14 Pro series could come with a better ultrawide camera

According to famed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 14 Pro versions would include better screens (likely without a notch) as well as enhanced cameras. However, the ultrawide camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be far more advanced than its predecessor.

Kuo has said on Twitter that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will include ultrawide cameras with bigger sensors. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max include a 12MP ultrawide camera with 1.0-micrometre pixels. Kuo stated that the ultrawide cameras of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will include pixels measuring 1.4 micrometres.

A bigger sensor has several benefits. For example, it lets in more light, allowing images to include more details and eliminate more noise without necessarily requiring post-processing. This is beneficial for images taken in low-light conditions.

However, this increase may not be inexpensive. According to Kuo, the new components for the ultrawide camera might be as much as 70 percent more expensive than the current components. These components are probably manufactured by Sony, Minebea, VCM, Largan, and LG Innotek.

Apple has set an event for September 7 to unveil the new iPhone 14 series. While official information on the new iPhone models will be revealed at a presentation next month, rumours about it have circulated for quite some time.
