Halo Infinite multiplayer launches early for Xbox’s 20th anniversary

Microsoft has launched the multiplayer beta for their next flagship shooter, Halo Infinite, a month earlier than its planned release date. The surprise release was a treat for fans on the occasion of Halo’s 20th anniversary, which the company celebrated with a stream.

Along with the Halo Infinite multiplayer beta release announcement, Microsoft also showed off the upcoming Halo TV show.

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode is available on the Xbox One and Series consoles, along with the PC. The game can be downloaded from the Xbox Store, Steam, or Game Pass. Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode is free to play for all users.

Microsoft held a private beta for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer in September for Xbox and PC, which received a positive response from fans.

Halo Infinite has had a rocky development cycle. The game was originally slated for release along with the Xbox Series X console last year, but its first gameplay reveal trailer in 2020 received much criticism over the graphics, which prompted a year-long delay.

Halo Infinite is set to release officially on December 8. The game will be free for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles from day one.
