Pros

-Good audio performance

-Nice design

- Convenient wireless syncing feature

Cons

- No HDMI passthrough

- Lacks comprehensive EQ settings

- Pricey

The Sony HT-A3000 Soundbar is a premium product that promises immersive Dolby Atmos Audio. Along with this 3-channel soundbar, Sony has also sent us the SA-SW3 Subwoofer, and a pair of SA-RS3S speakers, for a complete 5.1.2 surround setup. Is this the sort of sound upgrade you need?

Price

Let's start with the price, as this is a fairly expensive setup. The soundbar and subwoofer together cost ₹83,890, and adding the two satellite speakers will set you back another ₹30,990. This setup, then, costs a pretty hefty ₹1,14,880.

Design

The HT-A3000 soundbar boasts a sleek and sophisticated appearance with its matte black finish and metal grille.

The top surface features convenient touch controls for power, volume, input selection, Bluetooth, and a shortcut key for easy access to music services like Spotify.

There is also an OLED text display that provides status information such as current input, volume level, and audio formats.

At 37 inches long and just over 2.5 inches tall, this soundbar is a perfect fit for most TVs and can be placed on a stand or mounted on the wall to suit your preferences.

The satellite speakers also offer versatility, as they can also be mounted on the wall if desired.

All in all, the HT-A3000 is a top-notch choice for those who value both style and functionality in their home audio system.

Features and Utility

The HT-A3000 soundbar offers several connectivity options, including an HDMI port, optical audio, and USB-A port.

It also has an S-Center out port that allows you to use your TV speaker as a center channel, if you have a compatible Sony TV.

However, it does not have HDMI passthrough. For wireless connections, the soundbar has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, supporting the AAC, SBC, and LDAC codecs. It also has a built-in Chromecast and supports Apple AirPlay for easy connectivity.

In addition, the HT-A3000 supports voice assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and comes with a remote that allows you to control various functions of the soundbar.

During the initial setup, the soundbar will guide you through the process of connecting to the internet, signing in to music services, and connecting to the expansion speakers. The subwoofer and satellite speakers can be easily paired wirelessly.

The soundbar can also be controlled and paired using the Sony Music Center app for Android and iOS, although all settings and features can also be accessed directly from the soundbar's own interface.

However, it does not offer a comprehensive EQ setting and only allows you to adjust the volume output of the individual units, which feels like bit of a miss.

Performance

The HT-A3000 soundbar is equipped with Dolby Atmos surround sound, which uses a sound field optimization feature to create the illusion of a full surround sound system.

The soundbar has three channels and built-in dual subwoofers, providing a decent range of sound even without the expansion speakers. When the dedicated subwoofer is added, the bass quality significantly improves.

The Dolby Atmos feature enhances the movie-watching experience, providing an immersive sound experience that is almost as good as a full 5-channel audio setup. When paired with the satellite speakers, the HT-A3000 offers a full 5-channel surround sound experience that is truly immersive.

If you’re a more discerning viewer who watches lots of content which is dialogue focused, then the HT-A3000 has you covered as well.

The sound signature of this product really emphasises the mid-range - which really elevates the dialogues, especially in shows and movies where it’s hard to understand, like Tenet or House of the Dragon.

Music has always been Sony’s forte, and I’m happy to report that the HT-A3000 does a stellar job here as well.

Its sound profile is pretty balanced, especially in the mids, and it has a really nice soundstage, so music sounds expansive. It gets fairly loud, so you can fill a typical living room with sound without any issue.

There's a little bit of compression when you push it to max volume, but it isn't very noticeable, so you can crank up the volume without impacting the quality of the sound.

Verdict

The Sony HT-A3000 Soundbar is a high-quality sound system that offers premium sound when paired with the SW3 subwoofer.

It's a great option for those looking to upgrade from standard 2-channel speakers or TV audio and will significantly enhance your listening experience for both music and movies.

The soundbar can be taken to the next level by adding the satellite speakers for an even more immersive experience, and the wireless syncing feature makes setup a breeze.

If you're willing to invest in a top-notch sound system, the Sony HT-A3000 Soundbar is a solid choice.
