First time ever, AI-powered robot to defend a human in US Court next month

An artificial intelligence enabled robot will act as a lawyer to a defendant in a physical court hearing for the first time.

AI company, DoNotPay, has confirmed to Gizmodo, a technology news platform, that the robot will instruct the defendant on what to say to avoid penalties in the hearing of a speed-violation case in the US which is scheduled to take place sometime in February.

DoNotPay’s founder and CEO Joshua Browder told Gizmodo in a phone call.

However, Browder and the company wouldn’t provide any further case details to protect the defendant’s privacy.

Enabled by DoNotPay application, the bot will listen to court arguments in real time and will advice the defendant via an earpiece.
