Controversial 'Slavery Simulator' game app removed by Google amid backlash

Google has taken down the 'Slavery Simulator' mobile game from its Brazilian online store following widespread social media backlash. Created by Magnus Games, the game allowed players to engage in disturbing activities such as purchasing, selling, and inflicting harm on black characters. With over 1,000 downloads since its launch on April 20, the game faced criticism from Renata Souza, a prominent black activist and politician, who called for Google and the developer to be held accountable for promoting extreme violence. In response to the outcry, Brazil's Ministry for racial equality stepped in, contacting Magnus Games and Google to urge the implementation of measures aimed at combating racist online content.
