CES 2022: Samsung announces 4K curved gaming monitor, Micro LED TVs

Samsung has unveiled its new launches in the display segment ahead of CES 2022. The company is launching what it claims is the world’s first curved 4K gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G8

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 gaming monitor offers a 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) 1000R curved screen with 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. The monitor also supports Quantum HDR 2000 with a 2000 nit peak brightness and a million-to-one static contrast ratio.

The Odyssey Neo G8 is designed much like the Odyssey Neo G9, offering a sleek white exterior. The CoreSync lighting system ensures that the core lighting found on the backside of the monitor automatically detects colors on the screen and projects them in real life.

Samsung Smart Monitor M8

Samsung also launched the Smart Monitor M8, which offers a 32-inch 4K display that covers 99% of the sRGB gamut, and offers 400 nits of brightness. The monitor’s USP is that it has Smart TV and productivity apps built-in, and can act as a hub to control IoT products that support Samsung’s SmartThings, with no need for a PC. It comes with a movable magnetic SlimFit Cam for video calls, and supports the most popular calling apps.

Samsung Micro LED TV

Samsung has also showcased its Micro LED TVs, which they claim offers best-in-class picture quality thanks to 25 million micrometer-sized LEDs that individually produce light and colour. The Micro LED TV will be available in 110-inch, 109-inch, and 89-inch sizes.

The 2022 Samsung Micro LED TV supports 20-bit greyscale depth, offering over 1 million steps of brightness and colour levels, with support for 100% of DCI and Adobe RGB colour gamut. The TV’s 99.99% screen-to-body ratio makes for an immersive viewing experience.

The TV also supports features like Art Mode, which allows users to select and display their favourite artwork or digital photography. Multi View lets users view content from four different sources simultaneously in 4K at up to 120fps. The TV also comes with support for Dolby Atmos audio.
