CES 2022: Next-gen Dell XPS 13 Plus revealed with new design - check specs, price

PC maker Dell showed off the next-generation model of their coveted Dell XPS thin-and-light lineup, termed the Dell XPS 13 Plus. The latest entrant in the Dell XPS series features a radical new design, doing away with the touchpad and function row, and opting for a minimalist design language.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is slated to arrive worldwide in Spring 2022. Dell has said that the laptop will start at $1,199, or around ₹89,000, in the US. The base model includes a Core i5 CPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and an FHD+ display with no touchscreen.

There is no word yet on the exact launch dates or pricing details of the Dell XPS 13 Plus in India.

Dell XPS 13 Plus design

Dell has completely overhauled the design of the Dell XPS 13 Plus. For starters, they’ve done away with the function key row on the keyboard, replacing it with capacitive touch buttons. The keyboard itself extends all the way to the sides, and there’s no space between the keys, making for a minimalist look.

And finally, the touchpad is completely seamless with the body of the laptop, with no clear indentation or marking, and will use haptic feedback to simulate clicks, much like the MacBook.

Dell XPS 13 Plus specifications

Under the hood, the Dell XPS 13 Plus will be powered by Intel’s 12th-Gen Core i5 or Core i7 processors, with the highest configurable option offering 14 cores and 20 threads. The processors will also use more power, with a TDP of 28W, compared to 15W on the standard XPS 13.

The XPS 13 Plus also gets upgraded to LPDDR5 RAM, with a choice from 8GB to 32GB, and PCIe 4.0 SSDs, with a choice from 256GB to 2TB.

There are 4 available display options with the Dell XPS 13 Plus — an FHD+ LCD with touchscreen and non-touch options, a 4K LCD touchscreen, and a 3.5K OLED touchscreen.

The laptop will be just 15.3mm thick, and weigh 1.24kg. Dell also promises 55% more airflow for cooling than the previous generation XPS 13.
