Apple Vision Pro pre-orders exceed 180,000 units, but analyst warns of cooling demand

The Apple Vision Pro launched to strong pre-order sales, hitting around 180,000 units despite high cost and battery concerns. Shipping delays and the challenge to meet a 500,000 unit sales target are notable.

Apple Vision Pro pre-orders exceed 180,000 units, but analyst warns of cooling demand

The Apple Vision Pro went on sale for pre-orders on January 19th, attracting a lot of attention. Despite concerns about its high cost and lower battery life, the Apple Vision Pro sold approximately 180,000 units during the pre-order weekend.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo raised issues about longer shipping times compared to other Apple products, like the iPhone. This article delves into the sales expectations for the Apple Vision Pro headset.

Pre-Order Sales of Apple Vision Pro

Ming-Chi Kuo's report estimates that the pre-order sales for the Apple Vision Pro were between 160,000 to 180,000 units. These headsets were sold out quickly after pre-orders opened.

However, there is a notable shipping delay of 5–7 weeks, meaning customers will have to wait longer than usual to receive their headsets.

While the quick sell-out indicates strong initial demand, Kuo notes that the excitement among buyers might decrease over time. This decrease in enthusiasm after the first rush of sales could affect the long-term sales of the Apple Vision Pro headsets.

Apple Vision Pro: Meeting the Sales Target

One of the main challenges for Apple is to reach its 500,000 unit sales target for the Apple Vision Pro this year. This target is ambitious because the headset appeals to a specific group of buyers.

The actual sales figures will be more apparent after the official release date, which is February 2, 2024. For now, the Apple Vision Pro is only available in the U.S. market.

According to Mark Gurman, buyers can experience a 20 to 25-minute demonstration to understand how the product works.

Wrap Up

The Apple Vision Pro has had a promising start with its pre-order sales, despite concerns about its price and battery life. However, the challenge for Apple will be to maintain this momentum and reach its sales target in a niche market. The real test will come after the product's official release and its availability to the broader market.
